Yea if you run across a situation where you're putting the Fumoto valve at risk of being broken off or damaged, then you've got way bigger problems than oil leaking from your car. Trust me, I drive my car off-road all the time (involuntarily, of course) and I've hit some pretty rough terrain... My Fumoto was the last thing at risk of getting damaged.

ive know about the valve for a while but i just ordered mine today because the first oil change that isnt free is coming up. i went with the no nip drain and also added the 1 dollar clip. my car isnt going to be lowered so im not stressing the risks all that much

So when I had a longer commute and got a Civic Hybrid, I carried it over to that car which now has a roughly 5 inch piece of tubing left in the oil pan. Some cars have a kink or an edge or something that would make it a bit difficult to pull the entire tube straight out. Much gentle cajoling and massaging transitioned to full out anger after about an hour thereby a full power yank which left a piece lodged in there. Dipstick still works so it must have fallen into the pan.
Removing the dipstick tube on the FRS/BRZ takes 10 seconds, then you can insert a much larger diameter tube than you can with trying to snake down the dipstick tube.

The added benefit is that you know you are at the bottom of the oil pan with your tube (hopefully grabbing any heavy debris in the process, if there is any) and you can also extract the oil a LOT faster due to the larger tube

My e36 never saw the drain bolt removed lol

Ordered mine today as well. It'll still be a bit before I get to put it on, but I went with the short nipple one and also ordered the clip.

I honestly wouldn't even bother with the clip, just one more step involved in changing your oil.
Once you get the valve in your hands you'll realize it won't easily spring into the "open" position.

Good to know! I figured it was only a dollar…might as well buy just in case.

That's because of access to the sump on a boat is usually difficult. It's still better to drain the sump from its lowest point..
