I think its the other way around, the higher the temperature, the less blind you will put on the incoming drivers.

so, by your logic, people who run 4300k/3100lm [oem] or 6000k/2900lm HIDs are jackasses on the road??? since they are brighter than 8000k/2500lm...

Nope. 4300K is the proper temperature. The jackass in his black Acura Integra with purple lights is not at the proper temperature though.

Well at least even at higher temps its still brighter
than most halogens... my osram rally h7 outputs 2100 lumies but my color temp is yellowish white.

4300k on a proper setup will still get you that blue flicker at the cutoff line. I think the reason why people do 6k+ hid is to achieve that same color effect without projectors. 4300k S2000 headlights look blue when you see them head on unlike those ghetto aftermarket kits because they also have a proper projector.
8000k blue hids with sacrificed visibility + 3000k yellow fogs (glare)? no thank you You guys may or may not be aware but the bluer the light, the worse your night vision becomes. Google bleaching of the receptors in your eye (rods and cones). |

^^ I agree with you completely. I will not sacrifice pretty for safety. I will keep the 4300K and I will be ok with them. I just like the blueish color but like I said, I have not owned a car with HID's so most probably I will be extremely happy with the 4300K

i am well aware of all these drawbacks, "anything other than 4300k = bad," but the difference is very minimal, it really just comes down to the "look"... of course i am not talking about the purple/pink beams [those are the extremes]... i mean, after all, these aren't professional-grade applications or anything...

statements like this sounds a bit like an overstatement...
yes, it's less output on paper, but would you really notice the difference? i doubt it, especially for standard applications... whether you decide to go with 6000k/8000k instead, it's still nearly 3x brighter than conventional halogens...
