Guys, give a kid a break, he isn't defending the fact that he sped, he's trying to seek advice on what to do. He fought the ticket, and something went wrong with the payment. We're all supposed to be friends here, we have all at least gotten one ticket weather it's something stupid or speeding. My suggestion is to call the ticket people, and call the courts and explain the situation.

Not true. I've been driving for 18 years and don't have a ticket to my name. Besides, we aren't all friends here. People can't get upset at others for driving like ****s and putting others safety at risk?

people make mistakes man. I'm not defending him speeding, I don't speed either. He was asking for help on what do to. We should all be friends, we're owners of awesome cars, and should be happy to help one another

I'm sorry, but without knowing the circumstances how can you claim he was driving like an idiot or putting anyone at risk?

Anyone that commutes on the 407 in the two left lanes could easily be nabbed for 30+ over any day of the week. I can't even try to count the number of times I was passed by an OPP cruiser (while doing around 135-140 with the flow of traffic) without them even looking twice.

If it was 30 over in a school zone that is WAY different than 30 over on a 400 series highway.

As for having no tickets, that means NOTHING. I know people that have never had a ticket that drive like idiots who just get lucky and never get caught, and I know other people that have a bunch of minor speeding tickets (< 20 over) where they were the unlucky one to get caught out of a pack of cars.

People also own up to their mistakes, instead of coming on here and blaming everyone else involved except himself. That's the problem here, he wasn't JUST asking for help.

There's lots of awesome cars, and lots of awesome forums. Doesn't mean everyone is going to see eye to eye on every topic. That's the point of discussion forums. Would you rather me post cute cat meme's every time someone poses a question/topic that I don't agree with? ...just for the sake of not hurting his feelings? Sorry the real world doesn't work like that, and I act/discuss in the same way I would to someone's face.

Like you said, the OPP have passed on the 407 doing 30+ over (not that it makes that right, but that's another story). I guess I'm on the side of the law that if you actually get pulled over for that much over, I'll immediately assume it was not just cruising the 407. Besides, this really comes down to the OP and how he approached asking his question. Blaming everyone...well to me that gives an impression of how he might have been handling his business on that fateful day.

As for tickets, I think 18 years of driving is enough to say that I'm a pretty respectable driver on public roads. Have I gone over the speed limit? Of course. But that's not really the point. A good track record USUALLY speaks for itself. There are some lucky SOB's, but eventually it usually catches up to them.

Good luck OP
Got myself into a whole heap of shit back when I was younger and stupid with my MR2. I am now an official pu55yfoot and am scared to crack 120km/h on the 401 and don't dare to go 10km/h over anywhere. Nonetheless, I've been trouble free for the last 3 years and my rates steadily drop yearly.

To the op, sucks that the pricks in F150's and Dodge Caravans doing 140/150kmh should be the ones in your position. But why the hell you doing 29 over anyways?! If you asked me, you kinda got what you deserve. You get caught sooner or later.

In Ontariarrio the cops have an H.T.A. exemption for speeding.
They are allowed to have fun!

The more I learn and enjoy my car, the more I daily drive my sisters honda accord. I have no problem to cruise that boat at 50mph but when I'm in my car I'm cruising 70 and when traffic opens a bit I can't resist the urge to

I might break even maintaining 2 cars vs speeding tickets but the relief of no legal hassles is worth it ^_^

Wow wasn't aware this thread was still going.

First off, thanks to the guys who aren't just trying to call people out.

This forum has been becoming increasingly immature, to the point where you need peoples pity to get advice? C'mon.

guess I should of given more details so the keyboard warriors didn't feel in the blanks for me, yea I was speeding. On a 4 lane highway with a posted limit of 100, but no I was not being a hazard. Anybody that drives the highways past Barrie know that on good days the traffic will be a consistent 130-140 in the left lanes easy.

So yea not a **** head poverty stricken asshole, just a normal 20 year old guy in a shitty situation.

It is very normal to cruise at 130 on those highways but most cruise at 120.
Even the provincial tailight chasers admit they don't stop anyone at 120.

But - because of this "grace period" they become extremely strict above 120.

The trick is not to get caught. Many techniques are available.
The most necessary tool is a thorough understanding of radar and ladar usage by the speed-tax collectors (especially within the paramaters of geography).

The only apprehension method almost impossible to beat is the airplane but thats not used much anymore if at all, as it costs money rather than making money.

The speeding offence that puts a driver into a stunting charge is a draconian Stalinist affront to human rights and democracy (as is photo radar, red light cameras,{which convicts owners not drivers}).

This proves the socialist provincial government cares not about its "subjects".
They will always form a police state when they want your money.
