Some advice on suspension from serious drivers

Hey guys my brother bought an frs a couple weeks ago...long story short, driving is all we do and the frs handles great, but is anyone else afraid to do suspension because it handles insanely with the stock suspension? Anyone wanna give me some advice or recommend some suspension that is clearly better than stock? Thanks in advance any reply is appreciated!

Start at the weakest link in the system. In this car, the wheels/tires are its weakest link. After that, it will depend what you want to do with the car. I suggest you read around in the suspension/autocross forums.

My suggestion is don't do something just because it looks cool. Find out what every little modification will do to the car. Some modifications may enhance the car and some may hurt it.

If you're not going to compete--I wouldn't mess w/ it.

Even then, unless you're an advanced driver--the car is so good from the factory--see above. My .02...

Definitely start with tires and lighter wheels. from there it really depends how advanced your brother is when it comes to performance driving and what his goal for the car is. budget definitely is a factor as well.

@ayau you got it right bro.

Get some camber bolts in front. After that spend money on driver improvement first. HPDE, driving schools etc. Skip the wheels/tires for now.

I posted a big rant about this is the San Antonio thread, the tl;dr is that you can't just throw parts at this suspension like you can a civic with 90k miles. Identify what specific problem you want to solve, read about solving that specific problem, devise a test for that problem, run the test, modify, run the test again, is it better? It's like playing Mythbusters-the-home-game.

What you really can't be afraid of is saying "this modification didn't work" and undoing it. I would highly recommend getting to know the other guys in your area who have similar vehicles, and the for sale/trade section of the forums.

You consider it great for your use case so why change it?

What are your requirements? Tracking? Looks? Comfort? Adjustability? How much are you wiling to spend?

There is no one setup that is clearly better than stock. There are some that are better at certain things. What is important to you?

You can't go wrong with ANY high end suspension. The question is, what exactly are you looking for? More importantly, what is your budget?

This may be a great time to get into our Tein SRC group buy.
