Not sure why someone would fight a speeding ticket... you were speeding, got caught... pay the fine. Again we dont have all the details, but if I get caught speeding and I was speeding, the last thing on my mind is oh I am gonna fight this and create red tape. Fuck it, I just pay it and move on.
Sorry for your situation, it sucks, hope it gets resolved for you. |

Why would someone NOT take the ticket to court when it is quite easy to reduce your fine AND violation by doing so. Not sure how it works in Canada but in most places in the US you can plead not guilty, go to court, and they most likely lower your offense if you are not a habitual offender. Some places do not allow this like NYC but why wouldn't you try?

The fine and court costs are basically irrelevant. You're almost certainly going to pay them unless you can prove that you weren't speeding or that the speed limit changed and the sign showing the change was not visible. On the other hand, speeding "x" miles per hour over the limit = "x" number of points. "x+y" points = licenses suspension and any "x" points can result in significantly higher insurance rates. You "fight" it to get it reduced/plea bargained to a non-moving violation or a significantly lower number of miles per hour over the limit... thereby resulting in less consequences in the future. Fines related to traffic offenses are sources of revenue. Period. Prosecutors and law enforcement really don't care at all about the safety aspects of your speed until you get REALLY over the limit... Neither does the court. They just want the money. It's really just a form of taxation. As such, you can often get a ticket for 5-14 over the limit reduced to a non-moving and you can often get a ticket for 15-25 over reduced to a 14 or less over the limit... thereby saving you insurance money and points on your license. But regardless of how far it gets reduced, you're almost certainly going to pay a similar fine and court cost. People have paid me $200-$500 to get such a reduction... because it makes more sense in the long run. |

But thats why you get a dash cam so you can sue the f*** out of the OPP when the GPS shows your speed at 120kmh, I can't wait to submit it as evidence and see the look on the cops face |

And as stated I only had to scrape by for the winter because my girl was in school and not working, which she will be in 3 weeks. I admit I was pissed at the time and made my financial situation seem dire, But regardless of that it still amazes me that complete strangers can read a paragraph asking for aid on a subject and they have to make a point to judge your life and decisions based on that little information and think they know what's best for me. But that's the all known ignorance of the keyboard warriors. Anyways payed the fines and got my license back, it was an expensive lesson but I learnt that if you have a ticket specialist dealing with your ticket and it gets reduced, it's his reaponsibility to give you the updated fine. And if he doesn't and you forget to pay cause you think it's coming in the mail, your SOL. Thanks for the posts with useful information |

I'm sorry you got beat up there Muskokan. The Internet can be a rough place when your post shows any sign of wrong doing on your part, even if it's just a rant against the system or Harper.
I understand your frustration and hope your relationship with the girlfriend, the government, and the insurance company continues to improve. You might want to track the car if you can afford it. That way it puts speed in a safe setting and gets the blood flowing too. |

^^ Suspension, tires and cooling mods are 100% not needed for lapping, and depending on how hard you want to push you can get by on stock pads/fluid too.
I would suggest pads/fluid for anyone tracking, but if you're on stock tires and not pushing really hard you'll be 100% fine for 20-30 minute sessions. You are right that in addition to lapping fees you will spend more on consumables though, brakes will definitely go faster, plus more frequent oil changes, etc.
