Oh man I'm so sorry to hear that Luigi from Olympic has ruined another boxer motor. The Subaru community knows him very well down here and would never let him touch our cars.

Wow, when I was referred to him I tried finding info or people who may of known about his shop's rep & found/heard nothing. Until a few days ago I've always read but never rly gotten into ft86 forums. I just had to seek advice this time. I got in touch with James & I have a plan but at the same token I need to minimize my loses. The car is my daily so I can't rly sit on it & I've alrdy dished out thousands. Now I'm pretty much forced to get a new engine out of pocket.

So irony is... I just wanted some #s for legal purposes on a new engine + labor. I called Subaru dealer near me & they said, if my car is heavily modified they can sell parts but not work on it, but they know a shop that specializing in subarus & mods... Olympic motorsport.

@Mujen84 Yeah man I know what you mean. If you are located in south Florida, feel free to join our 86 FB group https://www.facebook.com/groups/449832905027317/ There are plenty of knowledgeable people on that page that can guide you to some good resources including Kab Kustoms. I posted up this link on the page to warn others of Luigi.

Honestly, you really should have been aggressive in getting a new engine from them. @jamesm had just stated it was the tune that caused your engine to blow therefore they are responsible. You shouldn't be forking up money for their errors.

Off topic: Welcome back @jamesm! haha.

It's much easier said than done. If someone wants to tell their succesfull lawsuit story I would be intrigued. I've already told him he should be covering the engine, that there is no recall & that the "recall" pprwork alrdy said "not detrimental to fuel/engine." I've spoken to a lawyer buddy & 2 others in government.

Cases take time, then you may run into a ruling that "inherent risk when modifying car." Even if/when you win the case they dnt has to pay you immediately. You may have to have their funds/business seized. After all this is done, then you finally get paid - do you see where this is going? This has been on my mind constantly, because I have no car. I'm tempted to just say Fk it and proceed but I've been trying to be civil. Small claims court has a 5k limit that's also an option.

There are alternative ways to be aggressive than going through a lawsuit. One example is talking to the higher management as they have more control. You should have found ways to make them pay for the engine(aside from lawsuit and violence obviously) as it was their responsibility to replace it as they blew it up(unless you signed a waiver that states they aren't responsible for anything that happens to your car during the process, which I highly doubt). I don't see a reason why they shouldn't be replacing it if it was their tune that caused your engine to blow.

There is no higher management, he's the owner of the shop.
Step 1 is to obtain engine log & gonna go from there. Then we can analyze this and obtain something concrete. I'm gonna work on that ASAP & get back to you guys for analysis.

If you do get something concrete and it's pointed out to the tune or fail install of the product, I would push to get the free engine replacement or a complete refund, else just follow your plan.

BTW, AWD Motorsports has nothing to do with Olympic Motorsports. They rented our dyno a few times. Since we didn't work on Subaru's they are just one of the first shop names that pops into our heads when someone asks where they should take there Subaru.

The log I saw was running ~13.5-14:1 at 2-2.2 bar absolute map, pulling 4-5 degrees of timing (throughout an entire 3rd gear pull) and still running 18 degrees. It was asking for like 24 degrees of timing in the map. On pump gas. At 2.0bar+ map (16psi+ relative).
