Is there any future in water-injection? From what I've read, it's a cheap way to keep an engine cooler, allowing you to run leaner AFRs. I assume 1) it's more complicated - people need to fill up with gasoline and water. 2) It's less safe since it can harm the engine if something goes wrong. What about somehow encapsulating water and gasoline molecules, so that only one liquid is needed. Some kind of carbon sphere.. yeah, I'm going way out there with some pop-sci theories

I hope in a few years it will be way cheaper/easier to get 200whp out of these cars.

Methanol injection can be very safe and effective if you control it properly and using the "proper motorsports" hardware!!!
On a NA car you are not going to see the type of gain you want compare to FI cars. Also due to the atomization factor of the meth injection, at this time E85 will have a better and more consistent result. If you have access to e85 I strongly recommend you try out our e85 stage2 map. The top end is pretty nice!! Quote:

I think we have created a very affordable 200whp package.
OFT $495 Drop in Filter $50 *Modified intake snorkel 20min of elbow grease OFH $515 gasket kit $50 Tank of E85 $45~$50 Load OTS E85 stage2 map - free Result: For around $1100 bucks you get 200whp and a smiley face, not bad right??!!! I don't know of any other combination of mods you can do to this car and yield you this kind of power gains. ![]() |

Some of these may be "rumors", but I'd like to hear it from someone directly.

And when it comes to cold start, I have had no problem tuning on E85 for cold start in my region. However "cold" in my region is 30-50F. So I can't say much in regards to the more snow covered regions. You are more than welcome to PM me if you have any questions. I am unbiased and have put ~8k miles in the last 3 months of my FRS on E85 (while it was running). Recap: E85 is awesome. It may cause damage but time will tell. But from my point of view? Enjoy the living hell out of it!!
