I'd go 245/35-18. OEM tire diameter, 0.7" shorter (better gearing) than 235/40, same weight (sometimes lighter), and of course wider.
225 on an 8.75" wheel seems like underutilizing the wheel width to me...

How would that effect price? 225/40s are cheap. Also, would that still be safe for the front? Thanks though!

Can't say about fitment, but I would *think* that with camber bolts and increased negative camber 245/35-18s should clear. 235/40 might be more likely to rub due to greater diameter.

If price is a factor, get 17s! 245/40-17s are going to be $20-$60 cheaper than 245/35-18s.

Naw its 18s or continue saving Ive decided. 530s as well I believe. And yes Ive seen pics now with 245/35s square and they do indeed fit. Ill get camber bolts for the front and leave the rear at natural camber. On sportlines they look real nice!

Absolutely go with a square setup. It makes life 1000x easier! Being able to rotate tires is a huge advantage and a lot easier on the wallet in the long run. I personally am looking for a 17x9 setup with 255/40r17's on all four corners.

For what you're looking at, I'd do 18x9.5 square and run 265/35r18's. Should be beautiful.

...I know all too well the hassels of running a staggered setup (double staggered on my mr2).

I vote the 9"+44, w/ 245/35/18.

Second choice would be the 9.5"+45 w/ 255/35/18

9.5 will require a bit more camber to make flush. The 9"+44 requires very little camber to be flush. I have 9" +42, and run 1.7deg front, 1deg rear and it is very flush. If you get the 9.5 you will need more camber.

The 9.5 will add weight as well, and depending on your power goals might be overkill.
The 8.5 will be tucked at that offset.
The 9 is a good balance between flush and weight.

I believe 9.5" is where you start running into possible clearance issues with the stock spring perch. @King Tut should have input on that.

I ran 18X9.5 +38 on 245/35/18 with stock suspension for a bit. It was about | | far from hitting the spring with the tire. Any offset higher than that will rub with stock suspension. 100% confirmed. I even low trac'd on hard corners sometimes till I switched to Tarmac 0 coilovers. All problems went away after that and I even feel my handling increased by going a bit lower and wider.

What tire? Different sidewall design will affect the clearance, sometimes too close for comfort.

I will have coilovers so inner clearance won't be a problem
Correct me if I'm wrong, but on most cars coilovers reduce inner clearance because the coilovers are thicker than struts and the springs sits lower. Those offsets seem a bit high for them to clear.

Incorrect, most coilovers will be like this:

My stock front strut vs Ohlins.

What I mean is where there wheel ends up, the space between the mount and the spring perch. I would like to see how 18x9.5 +45 would fit on the front with coil overs.
