One problem with driving the car....friggin cruise control!!!!!!!!! cant go over 69, ugh...Actually, i take that back. I could probably flash back to the AVO base tune. run 91 in my car and be good...Cruise control works on the other tunes. Plus wont have e-85 on most the drive anyways. |

http://www.ecutek.com.au/ecu-tuning/...gnition-timing has good info.
I took a long look at the logs. Then again, I know nothing. Ignore this. I would call the guy and have him send you a flash ASAP where he has scaled the ignition advance map way down, like 50% down, if not to 0%. I would assume that he can just enter a scaling value and press save, but he might have to actually adjust the map. Pretty much all your knocking seems to happen when that table is maxed at 10+. At half that, you might have a lot less knock, possibly none. KingTut is saying that you're possibly running rich much of the time, and the AFR is maxing out the sensor. When the injectors are working their hardest, you're getting the most knock, which supports what he says, but that's when you're running hardest too, so it makes sense for there to be knock then. Rich knock is, I have heard, the worst kind for your engine. Then again, that's all when the advance is way high too. Fix the advance. I wouldn't be driving the car hard right now. If you do, I'd keep a really light throttle and low revs. Keep off boost. If you can open your wastegate and run without boost, I'd do so until you can get re-tuned. Then get a wideband and see what your fuel is actually doing. And this, sirs, is why I sure as hell won't tune until I can log well and mod it myself. I will not be beholden to some tuner far away who has a booked schedule. Last edited by EAGLE5; 10-16-2013 at 05:12 AM. |

Did you pull any data off your AEM Failsafe? Do you have the RPM hookup? I would like to see what your actual AFRs are during boost.

What i can say, is that on average the afr is around 10.6 most the time during boost. Lowest it ever went during that full log 3hr+ was a 9.4 Here is the .daq file from AEM if that helps. http://d.pr/f/9gKH |

I honestly sense your tuner is not a bad guy and hes doing as much as he can, but he honestly doesn't know yet hoe to tune this car. He might learn and be great, but he is not there yet and who knows when he will be.

As I expected. Unless you are giving that data to your tuner, he might not realize you are running that rich since the scaling of the OEM AFR only reads down to 12 on your plots.

Ouch, peak of 15+ psi trailing down to 11 psi. What are you using for boost control?

All of this quest for a flatter boost curve has me also thinking and wondering if my WG is pre-loaded too tight and that is keeping the WG from being able to contorl boost more accurately up top. (Of course just a theory because my boost plots of 12 psi were very linear and I haven't touched the WG at all since).

Correct. I did pressure test for leaks, and found a major one on the turbo inlet. Fixed all that. When i put my new actuator on, i played with the WG preload setting. In the end 3 halfturns seemed to be about the right preload...from what i could tell, might play with it a bit more though once i ge tthe tune figured out. |

So i tried reflashing to an older tune. This was the original e-85 tune my tuner gave me. This has always ran the best. So thought i would give it a try again and see how it runs. Well runs great. CC still does not work, but thats another issue.
Lowered boost to about 10psi, will be pulling out the mbc and just running wastegate for some tests soon. Knock is only occasional and its always a -1 or -2. Thats the most i ever get with this tune. Under all conditions. Also, on my AFR wideband. Pretty much around 11-10.6 on most full boost. A couple times dropped to a 9.6, but out of alot of pulls and time (60min) it was only around 10times? Probably just run this tune for now till i can get it sorted out. Can pull some logs and post those later. Thoughts? |
