got my results:
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B4i3...it?usp=sharing

i also noticed that for the past few weeks the coolant level stays about the same, just a tiny loss. considering that for the first month I lost about an inch I'm inclined to think it might have been the poor factory bleeding. i will continue to monitor it though.

I'm still having coolant issues and coolant smelling hvac when I first start it up. Spoke with the dealer about paying for a pressure test and if they find anything that will warranty it. Still haven't back from them and this is the third time I've mentioned it. I also have pictures documenting the reservoir tank level dropping. And they still won't do anything about it. Does anyone have any information on how to properly do a pressure test yourself-I'm very mecanically inclined so I just need the actual procedure for this car as well as any documentation of getting to the heater core? I have the sport-tech (limited-I.e auto climate control). I'm also getting an oily residue on my windshield fairly quickly which maybe implies a heater core, but I'm not sure. Any ideas?

my coolant has pretty much stabilized. it's dropping but barely noticeable now almost the same level. i am inclined to think that it was poor bleeding from the factory.

I've had my car for two months and it has 3600 miles on it. I noticed the coolant was not completely full. And I just checked it about an hour ago and its at the low mark. I'll will check in the morning after its been sitting for 12 hours. Any thoughts as to why this is happening? When I've gotten off the highway I can smell coolant when I stop at a light. Anyone have any thoughts?

that reservoir is a vented overflow tank, so evaporation is normal, using that as an indicator isnt 100% at all
check the depth of fluid in the radiator fill when parked on level ground dont go by overflow tank level!

How much evaporation would you consider normal? 3 inches from the reservoir tank every 15000km, doesn't seem normal to me! Coolant doesn't just evaporate like that, unless this new super coolant does, idk for sure. All I know is its a sealed system and shouldn't need topping up really at all.

We own two of these brz, and one of ours has 30k miles, and is 7 months old. I've had to add about a pint to a quart of coolant, so I consider that normal, I also reside in the hottest part of the US: arizona

Hmm. thanks for the info. I'm going to push forward with a simple pressure test and go from there, I don't think it's normal, not mention the coolant smell coming from the vents when the power is turned on for the fan. I'm sure its the heater core having a small leak and vaporizing. Idk anymore if I should keep worrying about it or just simply keep topping it off and pretend there's no issue.
