Sounds like a combination of delayed open loop transition, and big long term fuel trims building up. Probably needs Maf re-scaling and or better injector scaling if you have replaced the port injectors.

Flash again, goes back to lower values till it learns to lean it out again. He doesn't know what to do. Car is still there.

LJ has been awesome and seems willing to setup a time where we can flash his maps, dyno, iterate.

Yup, sure seems to be. I read over one of your good tuning threads and this seems to jive. He's going to try and adjust the MAF scaling on direct injection tonight, as he said the port fuel trims don't seem to be a problem.

Just talked with WORKS again. He decided to keep working on it yesterday and he thinks he's getting somewhere now. I'll hit you up as soon as I know how that's going! Thanks again LJ.

I would rather have LJ tune it for you, than have WORKS work on your car again and maybe end up failing AGAIN. Not to badmouth the tuners at WORKS, but from what i understand reading from your posts they dont have that much experience tuning with EcuTek, coz if they did im pretty sure they would've solved that problem long before. Im from SF Bay Area also, and gonna go FI soon and i would travel out of state to have my car dyno tuned CORRECTLY by reputable EcuTek tuners. My car's a car, not a labrat.

Lol! If they dont have experience then how can he be a license "master tuner" By ecutek??

Keep note that there is a difference betwen ecutek tuner and ecutek master tuner

You should take my car for a spin and see that my car is tuned perfectly by pete.

I knew you were gonna say something. I didn't say WORKS didn't have experience with EcuTek. Imma shut-up now, i dont wanna start anything. what i've posted above was merely MY OWN OPINION, i think im entitled to have one. If not, then lets have the communists take over our homes.

Ecutek website is not updated. Proof? Check out equilibrium tuning in san francisco. They list them located novato, ca but they are no longer there.

"a Master Tuner allows you to purchase ProECU Programming kits and retail these to vehicle owners together with your own ECU calibrations. This allows the experienced tuner to remotely tune vehicles at remote geographic locations. It also allows the tuner to supply a customer with a number of calibrations, that the customer may switch between using the EcuTek programming tools that they have purchased through their chosen EcuTek Master Tuner"

Everything above pete already does so yes he is a master tuner

You might inquire with Fine Line Imports in Santa Rosa CA. They are who I'm planning on working with when I go FI. They do a Lot of big power Subarus and do dyno tuning.

I don't know whether they are "master" ecutech tuners, but you could find out if you inquire with them.

Just because they are great subaru tuners, doesnt mean they can tune an FA20

remember that this "Subaru" had Direct Injector which many subaru tuners dont know how to tune.

Pete@WORKS is an awesome guy. He's been very upfront with me and is very good to work with. They've done a lot of tuning, just not for the 86. I believe the only other 86 he's tuned from the stock map is @86_ZN6's FR-S.

I trust Pete with my car.

I didn't get a chance to take yours for a spin while I was there, but I will definitely take you up on that. Now you just need to get some gauges in that thing ASAP!

I only suggested that you inquire with them, i made no claims that they could, or would do better. I merely was saying there's more than one shop in the area that does subaru tuning.

In fact, I'm still not 100% sure who I'll be going with when I get my turbo kit.
