Just look at this web site: http://www.diamondaircraft.com/aircraft/da42/specs.php
Fuel capacity, total / usable 79 gal / 76.4 gal

Cars are no different, but manufacturers have not ever published or made known the usable fuel, so a word to the wise: a certain % of the total fuel capacity of your fuel tank is unusable & to drill it in, any pilot who trusts a fuel gauge ought not to be a pilot.
I wasn't referring to fuel gauges. I was just referring to the general aviation idea that if you're unsure of your position, trust your gauges. Not necessarily fuel gauges.

Your mileage will get a lot better after the engine break-in.

That's why we have fuel filters.

Impossible for a street car, for packaging and weight distribution reasons.

Usually for a high-performance street car, there would be a dry sump oil pump but nothing special for fuel. No manufacturer would assume you to run aggressively on a near-empty tank...

Thought I would push the limits. My Torque App reading the OBD2 data stream said there was 2.2 gallons left when the low fuel light came on @ 410 miles. When I filled up @ 437.3, the OBD2 said 1.6 gallons remaining. Took 11.983 gallons with 2 clicks of the pump to fill it up.

Apparently, I need to use a few more rev's.....

The BRZ is just a casual daily driver.

For those of you pushing this to the limit, you might want to pick up some of this from Woot today.

Of course, after reading the CAUTION below, I think I'd rather push my car than take a chance on this stuff.

For that price, you might as well just buy a little red tank with real gas.

Ha...break in...since this is a lease I've decided to give the middle finger to the break in period and throttle it out probably every other day. She's got 900 miles on her. Should I still expect to see better mileage around the 2000 mark?

Shooting for a new low atm. Currently at 29.9mpg (automatic) on the avg clock halfway through the tank. Here's to hoping I havnt screwed the break in ability of this car lol. However I have seen some 21.8 fuely averages around the forums so atleast its not that bad.

Is this early fuel light warning a Subaru thing? Of the 14 cars I've owned, I've never seen a fuel light go on so early either... only happens with my 04' WRX and my BRZ.

The light on my 04 WRX didn't come on so ridiculous early. Or, at least, the gauge read nearly empty. Best I ever did was 375 on a tank.

In the first 3,000 miles I average right around 31.8, and in the next 17,000 miles I've averaged 32.5. Nearly all the driving has been straight commuter "stuff", and spirited road driving on occasion.

The Avg. MPG clock is pretty generous. My fuelly fill-ups show actual MPG at least 1-1.5 MPGs lower on a regular basis. I could actually adjust average MPG on my Outback with the easter egg menu, but I haven't seen anything on how to adjust it on my BRZ.
