it just depends, if you are over 1/4 full you probably wont see problems on the street. only people tracking the frs/brz see problems and there are solutions for them depending on how serious they want to apply the car.

My BMW E30 has the same style tank, and we suffer from the same issues when the tank gets low. There is a crossover pipe that helps some, but can't flow the amount needed under hard cornering. The best solution is a transfer pump to take fuel from the passenger side of the saddle to the driver side. None of the SpecE30 drivers want to run an aftermarket tank in the trunk due to putting that large weight so high up in the chassis when compared to the OEM tank. I just always start my races with a full tank.

Mine comes on, I fill up, and its always 10.6 before the pump clicks. That's a shitload left so I feel you OP. Granted I've only filled up twice since Ive had her lol. 24 and 25mpg average :/

My commute is a lot of stop and go 4 miles to work. I don't plan to hypermile this car though lol it is what it is.

Yeah yeah, I just had to have a friend snap a pic since I was being pretty ridiculous. 20mph in 6th every day. We'll see how my mileage looks after autox's 7 weekends in a row. I was at 31mpg for the tank after an autox and a 2 hour drive yesterday.

20 mph in 6th gear has got to be damaging the motor. I hate the way 6th feels at 42 mph.

Autox'ing shouldn't hurt your mileage much at all. An average autox consists of less than 10 miles of total driving (all runs combined). Even driving flat out you'll barely use one gallon of fuel.

Yeah, whenever I would track my S2000 the fuel tank seemed large enough to just make it through a day of an HPDE. Like clockwork the fuel light would come on when I was leaving the track at day's end. Given that both cars share the same sized tank (13.2 gallons, 50 liters) I would imagine results in the BRZ will be similar. Never had any fuel starvation problems either.

At my first autox I reset my trip odometer and economy. I drove exactly 8 miles and it read exactly 8.0mpg. I average about 35mpg and a tank a week. That makes my full tank mileage about 32mpg. So almost 10%.

Out of curiosity why are you obsessed with your mpg? Regardless of how the number drops you're only "costing" yourself around $5 (or less) from that bad mileage, from autoxing. And I'm talking in the long run. Throw in your low fuel economy from an autox into your rolling average over over a month and it's a blip on the radar.

I fill up at 1/4. I worry about suspended particulates getting into the engine if i go much lower. Given I buy high quality gas and am probably being ocd, but better safe than stranded

I don't think that would be anything to worry about unless your car was 10+ years old.

Maybe he plans on keeping the car that long and would like it to run as closely as possible to new throughout ownership.
