Traction control & ABS lights on Auto FR-S stuck In park
So basically like the title says I was driving down a section of the highway like I do everyday, when I drove over the part of the road that changes from asphalt to concrete. When I drove over it my traction control light started to flash like it normally would when losing traction in the rear, however after the flashing stopped it stayed solid on the dash now accompanied by an ABS warning light. I didn't think much of it and made it home (which is right down the road from where this occurred) and then put the car in park, pulled the parking break slightly since my driveway is on an incline then turned her off. Weird part starts now.. went back to my car to move it to let me roommate get out of the garage the fucking thing is stuck in park !! I have work in 2 1/2 hours so I immediately called the Temecula Toyota dealership & they were of 0 help with determining a solution for me to at the very least, roll my car out of the damn way to let my buddy get out of the garage. Other than them telling me whatever was wrong with the car wouldn't be covered under my warranty due to " outside influences " they literally couldn't have done less to help. now I am at he mercy of the interwebs... so can anyone point me into the direction of fixing this entirely, or for the love of god atleast being able to put it in neutral until I can have it towed to the dealership so they can look @ it on Friday.
P.s car will start just fine just the shifter literally won't budge, even with the break fully pressed down |

Have someone hit the brake and make sure you brake lights come on. If they don't your brake light switch is bad.
The car is known to throw codes for bad brake switch (As it sees the pressure in the brake lines, but doesn't see the brake light switch). This would also explain why it wont let you out of park. To override the gear lockout, there is a little rubber/plastic cover you can remove near your shifter and shove a screw driver in to release the lockout.

Big shout out to you guys I made it to work on time! I appreciate the quick responses I was able to take that plastic price off and disengage the lock however it is only temporary... it seems as if once you put the car back into park the lock re-engages, the car also feels very strange almost like a lag type deal now while shifting with the manual mode as compared to right before they were insanely quick & buttery smooth when it was working fine ? I will update you guys with progress when toyota tells me what's wrong with it

Got an appointment @ the dealership for this Friday gonna keep my fingers crossed.Edit: break lights do not engage anymore, I have the Valenti lights on my car & the turn signal and DRL still work fine but no light from the one up top or the bad in the Valenti's so I'm really at a loss here. |

likely bad brake switch as someone said above. Please let us know what you find out, and how many miles on your car?

Cool. If you cannot figure it out, I would call up Subaru and raise some stink since your brake lights are not working. Huge Safety concern. Maybe they can at least give you a loaner until they can look at it.

I would be highly skeptical if the Valenti lights were the problem, the DRL & turn signals function perfectly fine, I installed them myself on the car about a year ago. Never had any issues, soldered wires together & didn't use t-taps to connect them, I actually checked this first thinking I might have a short or something not the case. This occurred at a high speed 60-70 mph roughly when transferring from rough asphalt to a lowered smoother concrete gap between the twosection of asphalt road.

I've narrowed it down to be more than likely one of these three things. 1) break sensor busted 2) wheel speed sensor busted 3) or what I'm leaning towards as a very real possibility is that the crack/gap whatever you want to call it, where the two pieces of the road are merged by the concrete slab managed to disrupt the steering angle sensor when I drove over it ( wheels are no longer aligned properly ) ? Didn't get the chance to have someone watch the back of my car while I was adjusted the thing under the petal to see if it would fix the issue, so I decided I'd just go out to my car on my half & see if I couldn't get it back in order myself. I pulled the switch away from the petal toward me about & locked/tested about three different times but saw no results of it fixing the break light. Not sure if I simply didn't pull it far enough, pulled it to far or somewhere in between is actual the sweet spot. But I could imagine it would be sooo much easier to adjust it notch by notch with someone waiting for the light to appear. I'm thinking I'll just bring it to the Toyota dealership tomorrow, have my girl bake them up some goodies before hand and see if I can't get it covered under warranty ! But once again I want to thank you all who have posted I am pleased to have such an awesome community on this forum ! |

So I just arrived at the Toyota dealership not to long ago, spoke to a rep and explained my issue. He seemed much more open to helping me fix this via the warranty than the guy I spoke to over the phone, saying as long as there are no dents or physical evidence that whatever is damaged was damaged on " impact " while I was driving down the highway they would take care of it.
(I must have made it seem like it was my fault over the phone or something) They also informed me that there was an active recall for the ignition in my car so they are fixing that free of charge aswell as replacing my old fuel pump for the new post TSB one , after excessively complaining about those dreaded crickets I would hear every time Ive gone in for a service here this guy finally asked me to start the car up so he could check it out ! Voila the crickets appeared in droves just as I hoped they would ! He took some notes on that and confirmed they would swap it out before running a diagnostic for the warning lights on the dash. Will update with issue/resolution after 3pm pacific time when tech gives me a call back ! |

Welp just paid 130$ for Toyota to tell me they couldn't locate the source of the problem after replacing a few parts they basically gave up trying to find the actual root of the problem and just told me "we unplugged the tail lights completely and the fuse stopped popping, so aftermarket lights are the cause" no further explanation. I went home and reattached all the wiring, blew the fuse again and abs light is back. @guybo what made you think that was the problem originally? Is this a common issue among these lights ? Are the lights toast or can I fix the wiring somehow ? Or better yet Should I simply return them under warranty for a new pair ? I Put them on Christmas time last year & Everything functions properly except the left side Valenti brake strip ( this is what is causing the fuse to pop every time I've determined) any insight would be appreciated. I saw somewhere on YouTube that if you re-wire the inside of the 3rd brake light to make the triangle solid instead of flashing when pressing the brake that helped a few people that were experiencing similar issues. What do you guys think about this ? Any electrical gurus in here that can lend me a hand
