CEL/Traction Control Lights

Just took an 882 mile trip and the CEL and transaction control light (the one on the tachometer) came on before the 287 mile stretch back come. They weren't on before I turned my car off, but when I turned it on a few hours later, they were on.

As far as I can tell, my various traction control buttons and cruise control don't work. And I guess traction control probably doesn't work either. I haven't had a chance to read the code since I just got back in town, but I was wondering if anyone had the same issue?

Car's been good since I got it, with no chirping, idle issues, etc. and no CEL until this one around 3k miles. Also, I really doubt it affects anything related to traction control, but I did have to switch from 93 to 91 octane once on the trip, though that was long before the light.

I just knew something would happen on the trip. I'm sure there's no doubt that the issues were caused by the sudden long drive (so I assume), but I'm hoping someone may have some insight before I get the code read.

I could have sworn the OP has been all over those threads already...how can anyone not know about the CEL/traction lights issue by now from this forum?

I'll sum up what you need to know: There is a TSB, but conflicting reports on whether any of the various fixes actually works for an extended period of time.

Yup, you struck Subaru gold.

I don't have the time to read through the 97 pages of that thread, nor is my issue listed in the master list of known FR-S/BRZ issues for easy reference, so I made the thread in hopes that someone could quickly point me in the right direction. Mission accomplished, thanks.

Mine also lighted up going from 94 to 91 octane and the codes were cam related according to my dealer they have ordered the ecu one month ago and still haven't got idea of delivery time...

Also, it turned back off the next time I filled up at my usual 91 octane gas station... weird

I think the westcoast fuel is complete shit. and that is what is happening it seems most people with the CEL/idle drop come from the west coast. 91 is just not good enough for this engine in europe and australia they use 98 i think and in japan they are using 100 octane

i use 93 in all my highcomp engines. and never have problems sometimes i even add octane booster to increase the octane level higher. id suggest putting in a few octane boosters with your 91 do the math to see how many will raise it to 93-94 see if the CEL goes away might just be the ecu saying WTF IS SHIT ????!!!!!
