According to Motor Trend, Scion FR-S project manager Yoshinori Sasaki has let on that he has big plans for the FR-S beyond the first year model. Speaking at the press drives of the FR-S at the Sodegaura Forest Raceway in Japan, Sasaki says: “We are hoping to release one new variant per year… Hopefully, for the next ten years!”

Toyota global communications spokesman Akifumi Yonezawa explains that the purpose of adding new variants on such a frequent basis is “based on the planning team’s passion that they want FR-S to be loved over the long term by customers.”

We’ve already seen a blue version of the Toyota 86 with aero kit, high spoiler wing, and TRD parts/accessories, but an even more eye catching red version has now been shown!

Appearing at a recent test drive event, this red Toyota 86 features what will be (according to sources) a factory optional aero kit including high spoiler wing. There are also some photos of what will likely be an optional spare tire.

The GReddy Scion FR-S made a special appearance at Cars & Coffee in Irvine, California today, representing the first official public appearance for the Scion FR-S (GReddy version).

Moto Miwa was lucky enough to get some seat and drive time and had the following reaction to share with us:

Got to operate it a bit today and thought I’d share some of the less techy side of it and concentrate on the intrinsics of what is special… I didn’t get to go no more than to feel the clutch, steering, shift linkages, and brakes. Renowned drift racer, Ken Gushi, drifts and reviews the Scion FR-S in the best driving footage yet of the AS1 cars (FR-S, 86, GT86, BRZ) [Video INSIDE].

The high revving sounds coming from the car sounds great paired with Ken’s impressive drifting of course.

Subaru has posted an official BRZ exhaust note video from its re-mix night in Tokyo where the BRZ was introduced in the flesh at Studio Coast, a live-event and nightclub venue down by the water on Tokyo Bay.
