I got to use my jack today. What a piece of crap! I guess it's better than no jack at all but not by much.

Here's a VW jack. It's made out of aluminum. It weighs half as much as the Toyota jack and takes less than half the effort to use it. Notice it has a knob that rotates independently from the shaft. And it has bearings so it's really easy to turn.

Maybe something like this? Of course, I may be the only person on this forum who carries a cordless drill in my trunk most of the time. If you're at home, though...of course, this assumes you're referring to the knuckle-busting and labor-intensive crank handle.

The jack is much like a space saver spare. Better than nothing, but not by much.... the point being it will work well enough.

Ok, good to know I'm not the only one who thinks the VW jack is an accident waiting to happen.

My sister has a jetta and I've had to change tires with that thing at least 3 times and each time was more terrifying than the last.

I have never seen a car rock as much on a jack as I have with that.

Yeah, it's definitely not intended for everyday use, but it will work if it needs to.

My brother permanently welded a 3/8" drive socket on the scissor jack in his car and carries a Ryobi drill, battery and car charger (just in case) in the trunk. It'll lift that thing in a matter of seconds.
