Exhaust Alignment
I just installed the Perrin 2.5 Resonated Catback Exhaust with the HKS dual resonated front pipe. I'm having some fitment issues as far as the tips coming out the back aligning right. I think it might be hanger related, but not sure, any thoughts? Sorry if you laugh, but I am new at installing exhausts. Below are the pics of the tips out the back.

You have a lot of adjusting to do, my friend. I went through 3 V-Band clamps trying to get it finally. I had to fiddle with the muffler portion, pulling the muffler towards me while I tightened it. The whole twist the S-Pipe only does so much. You have to connect the pieces awkwardly to get it to be straight. I have another thread talking about this here: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=81850 I finally got it after several hours of messing with it. At certain times I had the passenger tip out further than the driver's side. A lot of cussing was involved. |

My Nameless Axle Back has somewhat of the same issue, but not as bad. It was more left-right alignment, as in the tips weren't centered in the cut-outs. Took @Hollwood_lives and I about an hour to get it to almost line up, but then I called it quits and settled for the "good enough". Part of my issue was with the upgraded exhaust hangers I got. If it wasn't for them, it may have been a bit easier to get it to line up nicely, but I figure another hour of playing with it and it should be good.

Some times you maybe get lucky, but Aftermarket exhaust can require a fair bit of work to fit dead on perfect. Used to heat up hangers with a touch and could spend up to 1/2 an hour just trying to get them to fit at the shop. All brands fitment is different.

So you think maybe an exhaust shop would be the only bet due to me not having a lift? Me and a buddy messed with it for a hour last night and could not figure it out...it would not budge. And thanks to all who responded...I appreciate your guys help a lot.

I'm going to have to do the same thing as you. Q300 and my right tip sticks out about 1/2-3/4 of an inch more than the left one.
I just used jack stands to install it, so should work for you. |

It's easy fix, tell your mechanic to loose the clamps for the S pipe and just play around the V pipe.

I'm going to fix it this weekend. And I think he meant v clamp. Just loosen it just a little bit, have someone hold it centered and even and retighten it.

That doesn't work. Tried it at least 20 times. If you read my thread, the key is pulling the muffler toward you while tightening it. That's how I got my Perrin centered. I had a second person even hold the driver side tip to keep from coming out and it still did even after messing with the S pipe and v-bands.

I have a q300, but same idea. Thanks for the tip. Probably will save me 20 min of cussing and squirming under the car.

Initially my left exhaust tip stuck out a bit on my Perrin CBE, but I loosened the v-band clamps towards the rear and shoved the left tip in hard while someone tightened down the clamps. My tips are now even. The key is to loosen the two v-band clamps and hold the exhaust in place while someone tightens the clamps down.

V or S pipe is the small piece between the muffler and the mid pipe (connects to the front pipe).
