Does snow & ice mess up car paint?
Guys - Just want to know your thoughts on snow & ice on the BRZ paint. Does it harm the paint? I mean if ice is hard rock would it scrape the paint?
All the friends that live in a cold/snowy weather and dont have a garage, how do you take care of your brz/frs stock paint? |

Sitting ice or snow won't do anything, but you have to be careful that when it begins to thaw, the ice "sheet" doesn't slide off your car. This could scratch or even dent depending where it slides on to (example if it slides off your roof and hits the front end of the hood).

Get a snow broom.
http://www.autogeek.net/snow-joe-snow-broom-tool.html Works great if you're careful with it. I think the salt and crap causes more damage than snow and ice. |

i know this is bad, but i used to hose my car off with warm water in the past, not HOT to the point i could crack glass, but just warm enough to melt the snow,
get yourself a car cover and call it a day! so much easier to clear off the car and you dont have to worry as much |

Unless your car is perfectly clean, ice can scratch the hell out of your paint when it's removed.
Think of how a glacier carves out lakes and imagine that on a smaller scale. Essentially it's the same issues you have with car covers on a dirty car. |

Agree, i removed the ice from the car very carefully, i did not try removing the ice that was sticked to the car. Eventually, the ice melt down and now the car is clean. This is my first new car so, im surprise that the wax still looks nice even after snow melt down(i havent even wash the car yet)
