NYS Inspection Question

I didn't bother to buy TPMS sensors for my new wheel setup - will this be an issue when I bring my car in for inspection this month?

Should I put the stock (bald as f*vk) wheel setup back on for inspection?

Nope, not an issue.

NYS Inspection is strictly a safety and emissions test. Long as your car is in good order, and you're not throwing any codes you're good to go.

As stated above, a tire light will not cause you to fail inspection. Nor will an airbag light, traction control light or an ABS light (as stupid as it sounds). Check engine light is really all the OBD plug is looking for. As long as your car is good, safety-wise (tires, brakes, seat belts, windshield, etc…) you'll be ok.

They are supposed to fail you for bald tires so this wouldn't have helped.

^^

Exactly.

It really depends on the shop and how through they are or how much they really care, but a shop can fail you for a lot.

Certain bushings/linkages, hoses and emissions/evap systems that people delete on their cars. Rust in certain areas etc.

However usually as long as your brakes/major suspension components and tires are good your good to go for the visual inspection.

I'm just doing the safety inspection (the one for $10) when I got mine and it was a 2013 vehicle.

Vehicles 2 years old or newer are exempt from emissions testing.
