Amsoil 75w-90 Man. Trans Oil

I'm getting ready to swap the diff/trans oil this weekend and have everything set up and ready to go...or so I thought.

I ordered 2 liters of Motul Gear 300 for the differential and planned on using Amsoil 75w-90 for the transmission. I got the Motul just fine and just picked up the Amsoil from a local rep here (which was a strange experience).

However...I just realized that the Amsoil 75w-90 version I got ('Severe Gear') is different from their other 75w-90 oil...so did I just screw myself out of being able to use it for the transmission?

I wouldn't worry about it and would have no problem running it in mine. Hell, I run redline lightweight shockproof in mine and have no issues. If it works and feels fine, leave it in

Severe Gear is a differential fluid.

Edit: Is the Gear 300 the LS version? If not, you could use it in the trans, and the Amsoil in the diff.

Good catch Roddy, the Gear 300 is not the LS version so I could just swap out where I'd use the oil. Now I just need to get one more bottle of the Gear 300 since I'm .2 liters short.

I double checked and the Severe Amsoil is GL5 rated instead of GL4 anyway.

Yes get an extra qt of Gear 300 for the trans and use the GL5 in the diff. If you use GL5 in the diff it'll eat your synchros. GL5 is not brass friendly.
