not starting car for 2 weeks
Do you think its a bad idea to have a car sitting for 2 weeks in a garage? Or my other option would be leaving it at my parents house and having them start the car every other day or somethin but sitting out side the whole time..
Can a turbo develop rust in side if the oil is not going through them from time to time? Its been a while since I left the country for so long, just curious what people do when they leave for 2+ weeks.

When I was at OSU and UofO people left cars for weeks at a time because they didn't want to lose their parking spots. I think you'll be ok. But those were stock turbos.

You're fine. If it went 2 months. Then maybe.

Think about what you are asking.
How long do cars sit between the manufacturing line and the sales lot? Airport parking lots? |

I didn't start my car for almost 2 months when I towed it home from the dealer. Started up no problem.

My other concern was gas octane quality. I have heard depending on how long the gas sat at the pump station, the octane rating can start decreasing after 2 weeks.
Just being FI'd, tuned and all, I may just be paranoid. Thanks for the replies, made me feel a little better, letting her sit for 2weeks.

I'll be away for about 5 months for some training, and I don't trust my housemates with my car. If I get to go at the start of next spring I'll just drive there, but if my orders are during the winter time then I definitely want to keep it out of the crazy Midwest weather. Any advice is much appreciated, thanks!

Not sure about a turbo, but from what I understand it's good to start your car every two weeks if it's sitting in a garage and otherwise not running, so it sounds like you'll be coming back right when it would be a good idea to start it up anyway - just make sure you've got a full tank of gas and there shouldn't be any risk or problems.

Far better to let it sit for two weeks than just start it every few days. Unless of course your parents would FULLY warm it up (the only way to do this is to actually go out for a drive for 10-15 minutes), otherwise you are just inviting condensation to build up everywhere (in oil, in exhaust, etc...)

Your turbo won't rust if you don't drive it for two weeks. My engine block has been sitting in my garage for about 6 months now completely bare and there still isn't any rust on it. The oil residue stays around for a very long time, especially if it's a closed system.

I don't mean to sound belligerent but is your question sarcastic or are you a new driver?
