Decay's Ultramarine Trackrat, now with less warranty!

“The test of the machine is the satisfaction it gives you. There isn't any other test. If the machine produces tranquility it's right. If it disturbs you it's wrong until either the machine or your mind is changed.”
-Robert Pirsig, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance

I purchased my car (early March 2013 build date) used from a coworker in July 2013, here is the first picture I took of her.

The previous owner had installed the following

HKS Hipower Spec-L Exhauist (Ti tips) - Removed, didn't get along with my header
Greddy cold air intake - Removed, didn't get along with my oil cooler
GT86 Spoiler - Removed, Didn't like it as much as a blank trunk.

Since then I've been slowly adding parts to my car and tracking it a often as time and money allow. Here it is as it exists today.

Current mods include:

Engine/Exhaust:
PRL Turbo Kit, GTX2867r
Fujitsubop Front Pipe (fucking awesome!)
HKS HiPower single exit exhaust
Perrin oil cooler, changed out to 16 row Setrab core
EcuTek Dyno Tune from Vit Viper
STi Motor Mounts
Raduim Catch Can w/custom mounting location
Red Line oil

Transmission:
Kartboy short shift kit
Kartboy rear shift bushing
STi Transmission Mount
Kartboy delrin shift knob
Mtec transmission spring set
Amsoil Drive line lubricants
3/4" dia clutch slave cylinder

Brakes:
Motive Autowerks brake master cylinder brace
DBA Clubspec 4000 T3 rotors
Project Mu Club Racer (front) HC+ 800 (Rear)
ATE Typ 200 brake fluid

Chassis:

TRD door stabilizers
TRD underbody brace set (minus the rear bar, need to figure out how that goes on)
TIC solid aluminum steering rack bushings
Grimmspeed strut tower bar
Beatrush front bumper beam
Whiteline rear subframe bushing inserts
Whiteline diff bushing inserts

Weight Reduction
Ptuning lightweight battery tray
Ballistic Evo2 HD 16 cell battery (~4lbs)
Empty washer fluid reservoir (it huge! holds more than a gallon of fluid)

Wheels/Tires
Enkei RPF1 17x9 +35 wheels
245w Nexen Sur4 tires

Suspension
MCA Red coilovers
SPL Rear Lower Control Arms

Ordered or waiting to be installed:

nothing

Future Mods (maybe, actually pretty satisfied with the car as it sits)
Additional cooling as needed

Thanks!

The previous owner actually bought and had the spoiler installed at a Subaru dealer in the area, I wouldn't have believed it, but I have the receipt for the work.

Did some work today, got the Oil Cooler and bumper beam installed. Also realized just how big the washer fluid reservoir was so I drained it.

Also a few weeks ago I installed TIC aluminum steering rack bushings and the TRD brace set.

So in the past few weeks I've installed a nameless header and Perrin motor mounts.

Currently I'm fighting some rasp, and am trying to decide between my HKS, the stock muffler, or a track pipe. Each sounds good under certain conditions, but none sound good at all times.

Also added coilovers today. Ride is quite good, stiff, but not at all crashy. I'll probably be getting corner balanced and aligned next week.

Added Whiteline subframe and diff bushing inserts, no real noticeable increase in NVH. Also added some poly exhaust hangers to stop my straight pipe from flopping around

Corner balance and alignment done today, front end bites VERY hard now. All that safety factory under-steer has been replaced by front end GRIP. Rear end is a lot more likely to oversteer, but I've just got to get used to the new way the car feels

Corner balance revealed that my car weighs 2775 with topped off tank and driver

Alignment is an aggressive street/track set up with 3.1 degrees negative static camber per side up front with zero toe. out back there is a little bit of positive toe and around 1.4 degrees negative camber.

Track pipe was WAY TOO FUCKING LOUD, I'm pleasantly surprised how much the Nameless muffled track pipe cuts volume without sacrificing aggressive tone

Doug - I installed my muffled track pipe today - thought you might appreciate the trick I came up with for a diffuser. I just used the stock heat shield for the stock muffler, the one that is bolted to the chassis. I made some brackets for it to move it down into the air-stream. It's not perfect, but has to be a step in the right direction. When I get a plug for the passenger side exhaust hole, I'll have to extend it somehow... but that's a problem for another day.

Here are some pix.

Nice I'll have to try that.

Wish I would have see this before today, I could have given it some proper track testing

Ran into some issues with the Grimmspeed intake and my oil cooler

And the header melting the stock resonator (after a LOT of track time)

For now I've drilled out the rivets on the resonator and removed it. I read some stuff about how that screws up low RPM maf readings, but I'll be the judge of that myself after looking at some logs.

I'll be looking in to modifying the Grimmspeed to fit.
