Where are you placing the jack? I haven't looked at my jack yet, but I'd imagine that it is supposed to secure in one of the weld points. Look at owners manual to determine where to use it. Also, make sure e-brake is engaged, else car may roll and fall over.

You should have no problems w/ the stock jack unless your car is raised... o.O

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess OP was jacking at the front floor jack point or diff and not the pinch welds. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I have used the factory jack to swap tires out at an HPDE (actually I used two simultaneously to lift up half of the car), no issues here.

I had to use mine to change my driver's side rear tire after a puncture. I'm lowered 1" on KW V3's and had no issue using the factory jack.

Before I got a low profile jack, I used the factory jack emergency jack all the time because it was the only thing that fit. I've never had any problems with it. I am also in to see how OP is jacking up his car.

Explain more of the situation, maybe something was done incorrectly or the jack could be faulty... Sometimes en exercise in frustration can leave you blind to the obvious. The factory jack isn't ideal, but it works fine if used correctly and the car is on a stable, grippy surface.

Where was the jack located to lift the car?
Was the jack groove placed directly on the pinch weld?
Were you on soft terrain like sand, gravel, or mud? (edit, nevermind just noticed you said you were in a garage)
Slippery snow/ice?

Which tire were you trying to change?
Was the handbrake fully engaged?
Were you trying to lift the rear end, possibly causing both rear wheels to get "light"?
Any suspension mods?
Was anyone in the car holding the brake pedal?

Since the car is rear wheel drive, one rear wheel needs to be well weighted on the ground to prevent rolling movement, or someone needs to sit in the car with the brake pedal depressed. If only the front wheels are on the ground, you risk the car rolling in ANY situation, even in a level garage, unless you chock the wheels (wedge something under them to prevent rolling).

Used the trunk jack in this car and others a bunch of times with no issues. Use it on the side pinch welds like the manual says and on hard ground (asphalt, cement, or at least really hard dirt).

I've never called for roadside ass before though, I just wait til I get home!

Or you could use a wheel chock or two. Which is what you should do.
