Perrin Performance Drift Button (Doriftu Switch)
Perrin Performance Drift Button
In the lab we have the new Perrin Performance Drift Button. Big shoutout to my bro @PERRIN_Chris for sending me the button and @PERRIN_Mladen for telling me what to call it. The purpose of the button is to allow free movement of the hand brake, so you can pull it and put it back down in a quick, swift motion. Drifters often use the handbrake in this fashion to break traction of the rear of the car so they can go sideways. The spring in the handbrake is removed so the button can remain depressed, and the button itself has a lip so you can easily flick the button out for normal use. It is a great looking item, and does exactly what it is designed to do. It is also easy to install and has measures to prevent rattling and vibration. Like usual Perrin fit and finish is superb. The Perrin Drift Button gets bonus points for matching my stainless steel shift knob. Update: After going for a drive, I can confirm my button does not rattle. As of this writing it is not out yet, but it will be coming out very soon. Let's check it out Pictures Danbo checking out the goods in front of the Perrin Laptop. The kit comes with a machined stainless steel button and a rubber O-ring to keep it from rattling. 20140428-PerrinDriftButton-007 by VictorN07, on Flickr 20140428-PerrinDriftButton-009 by VictorN07, on FlickrDanbo goofing off 20140428-PerrinDriftButton-011 by VictorN07, on FlickrHe wants to drift too 20140428-PerrinDriftButton-013 by VictorN07, on FlickrMacro time. Then wrap a towel around the gear lever and a towel around the handbrake level to prevent scratch damage from tools being danger close. Proceed to use a vice grip and just unscrew the stock button. It is on very tight. You could wrap towels/tape or what not to help prevent damage to the button 20140428-PerrinDriftButton-055 by VictorN07, on FlickrPerrin Performance Drift button vs old button 20140428-PerrinDriftButton-058 by VictorN07, on FlickrInstall the O-Ring into the button's channel 20140428-PerrinDriftButton-060 by VictorN07, on FlickrThis spring ensures the button will pop back out. Remove it using needle nose pliers (it will come out with no resistance). Alternatively you can leave it in there and all you will be doing is just replacing the button with a nicer one. Looks nice. Does the O-ring keep it from feeling "loose" like some of the other ones I've heard about? If so, I'll be picking one up when they are released.

The O-ring keeps the button feeling pretty secure, it doesn't really wiggle or anything.

I, for one, would love an update when it's available. This would be great.

I'm going to let the gentle at Perrin answer. I believe they are still working out the final details (price, etc)
