Perrin Performance Drift Button (Doriftu Switch)
Perrin Performance Drift Button
In the lab we have the new Perrin Performance Drift Button. Big shoutout to my bro @PERRIN_Chris for sending me the button and @PERRIN_Mladen for telling me what to call it. The purpose of the button is to allow free movement of the hand brake, so you can pull it and put it back down in a quick, swift motion. Drifters often use the handbrake in this fashion to break traction of the rear of the car so they can go sideways. The spring in the handbrake is removed so the button can remain depressed, and the button itself has a lip so you can easily flick the button out for normal use. It is a great looking item, and does exactly what it is designed to do. It is also easy to install and has measures to prevent rattling and vibration. Like usual Perrin fit and finish is superb. The Perrin Drift Button gets bonus points for matching my stainless steel shift knob. Update: After going for a drive, I can confirm my button does not rattle. As of this writing it is not out yet, but it will be coming out very soon. Let's check it out Pictures Danbo checking out the goods in front of the Perrin Laptop. The kit comes with a machined stainless steel button and a rubber O-ring to keep it from rattling. https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5048/...aef54006_c.jpg20140428-PerrinDriftButton-007 by VictorN07, on Flickr https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2934/...6bb83e87_c.jpg20140428-PerrinDriftButton-009 by VictorN07, on Flickr Danbo goofing off https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5584/...8e296f24_c.jpg20140428-PerrinDriftButton-011 by VictorN07, on Flickr He wants to drift too https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7073/...b80f6298_c.jpg20140428-PerrinDriftButton-013 by VictorN07, on Flickr Macro time. Then wrap a towel around the gear lever and a towel around the handbrake level to prevent scratch damage from tools being danger close. Proceed to use a vice grip and just unscrew the stock button. It is on very tight. You could wrap towels/tape or what not to help prevent damage to the button https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7333/...5b49d115_c.jpg20140428-PerrinDriftButton-055 by VictorN07, on Flickr Perrin Performance Drift button vs old button https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7337/...25d2efb9_c.jpg20140428-PerrinDriftButton-058 by VictorN07, on Flickr Install the O-Ring into the button's channel https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7408/...1b45b346_c.jpg20140428-PerrinDriftButton-060 by VictorN07, on Flickr This spring ensures the button will pop back out. Remove it using needle nose pliers (it will come out with no resistance). Alternatively you can leave it in there and all you will be doing is just replacing the button with a nicer one. Please take note of the stud the button threads onto. https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2908/...02599430_c.jpg20140428-PerrinDriftButton-072 by VictorN07, on Flickr https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2923/...dccb37b1_c.jpg20140428-PerrinDriftButton-084 by VictorN07, on Flickr Place the button on the stud and screw it down. https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2936/...781897b6_c.jpg20140428-PerrinDriftButton-063 by VictorN07, on Flickr Finished! It matches very well with a stainless steel knob such as the ones Perrin offers The large end of the button is no bigger than the hand brake handle itself. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7329/...d75b71fa_c.jpg20140428-PerrinDriftButton-085 by VictorN07, on Flickr Button extended. looks pretty dope

Looks nice. Does the O-ring keep it from feeling "loose" like some of the other ones I've heard about? If so, I'll be picking one up when they are released.

Looking forward to getting this. Have the same ashiko knob as op. Seems to match well.
Also may purchase in red if available to match my lockout. Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk |
I, for one, would love an update when it's available. This would be great.
