I received the drift knob I ordered from Enjuku and it didn't come with any instructions.
I looked around and saw that all e-brakes are pretty much the same so I took the boot off and attempted to install. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a way to release the spring tension like you can on other cars (e.g. 240SX). So, has anyone been successful in this mod? It looks like I may have purchased a $25 -- albeit cool-looking -- paperweight. |

I recently got to drive a 240SX with the drift button, and once I learned how to use it, I really liked it. So now I'm interested in it.
I'm sort of interested in the inability to release the spring tension; there's got to be a spring somewhere. I'll watch this, as I'm now interested in a drift button, even though I would barely use it for its true purpose. |

Not I. It's one of those products that should not be on sale for this car.

There is a notch like is on the S14 that is on the passenger side of the lever. Does your button press fit on or have the screw adapter? Mine does not appear to be able to press over, nor did it come with a threaded insert...

Our shift levers don't use a conventional spring. It's wind-up style spring instead of a standard, coiled spring.

Well I got my spin knob today from Enjuku.....
This may help you out. #1 Remove lever boot and rubber handle cover. The cover takes some force and twisting motion. It has a small amount of glue. But you should be fine. I removed the lever boot to make it easier and not damage it, plus I wanted to see more under the center console for other mods. So it's up to you. #2 Release the tension on the stock release button. This is done by carefully prying the two tabs outward just enough to get the spring out. #3 Grab a pliers and spin the chrome tip like you would unscrewing a nut. I marred the chrome a little, but I am sure it will never be going back on...... ; ) remove the spring also a this time. That way it won't rattle later. Once the spring is removed push the tabs back as flush as possible. That way the lever grip will slide back on easy and not have any visible bumps. #4 Replace the shift boot and lever handle. Once back on you can now screw the spin knob on and enjoy! I will add a installed video tomorrow. This is a nice mod for the drifters at heart! To many cops tonight to sample it here. My next mod will be to dampen the release thud. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

Very nice. How are you going to be dampening the release thud.
