Bent rear suspension - advice needed - Toyota GR86, 86, FR-S and Subaru BRZ Forum & Owners Community

So I bought a salvaged Scion FR-S from an auto auction as a personal project.
It was damaged in the side. From the looks of it, I think someone drifted it into something.
I've done body Work before , but this one has suspension problems. The rear Passenger wheel is tilted, bottom in, top out.
The thing is, I took it apart and found the lower arm control bent, so I replaced it. But when I put it back together, the wheel is still the same, only slightly straighter.
There's obviously a problem. But from a visual inspection, I can't see anything bent.

Is/are there parts that are suspected damaged parts in this kind of an accident?

I'm at work right now, so I can't post pics. But ill post a few when I get home tonight.

it could be anything unfortunately any alingment shop could probably spot it for ya.

Yeah, I'd rather explore my options dry before I go that route.

I would bet on a bent subframe, hopefully the unibody is straight in the back or you'll be sending it off to have the frame straightened.

By the sound of it, you really should take it to a body shop and have them throw it on a frame jig to check if the frame is straight before you start. If you are lucky, only damage to the subframe and suspension in the rear along with the body work.

pull the rear carrier off (entire rear suspension frame mount) have the body shop look at sub frame. if ok replace rear carrier then replace the hub control arms etc on that side. leave carrier slighly loose when alignining so you can move left or right if need be to get more even camber numbers.

You need to put it on a frame rack. There are tiny alignment holes everywhere in the body. The frame rack operator puts your car on the rack, dials in your car make, model and year and the little laser lights try and measure all the pre-set distances between the alignment holes.

That's how these unibodies are repaired. A skilled operator then attaches rams to the body in just the right places to pull the unibody straight. If they can't do it by pulling and pushing with rams they assess whether they can cut and weld. If not, the unibody is scrapped.

There is a very high probability that you bought a parts car.
