First purchase?
Wasn't sure where to put this exactly so i put it here. What should my first purchase be? Exhaust? I was looking at the Takeda catback exhaust, Coil overs? I was looking at the Tein Street Basis Coilovers. Or Rims? I was looking at the XXR 527 18x9.75 Gold. So Exhaust, Coilovers, or rims?

Coilovers. Then rims. Rims on an unlowered car look like poo. Same with an exhaust.

I would get exhaust first, then save up and get wheels/tires and Coilovers at the same time. I don't like the stocks on a lowered car, too sunk in. That's my opinion of course.

Personally I think the real question is where are you going with the car? Is this just small mods, turbo, strictly aesthetics? That being said exhaust and suspension are best bets.
And probably would have been best in the general section.

I vote exhaust because the stock is so fugly and quiet.
Stock wheels and stock suspension together work... but change one and you will be dying to change the other! |

A lot of people feel that springs on stock struts ride worse and will damage the struts over time. Coilovers are a larger initial investment but they offer more adjustability and you aren't wearing out stock parts which would need to be replaced and at that point you've spent the same amount of money on stock struts and springs and haven't gotten ANY of the same benefits as coilovers.

My "cheap" Isis coilovers seriously ride like stock. I've driven many cars with coilovers and these are the smoothest feeling.

All depends on what you want to do.
I went with an intake and axleback as my first purchase. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus

Track driving lessons.
Learn to drive like a pro first then upgrade your car after. RCE Yellow springs on stock struts ride better by the way. Add some Koni Yellows and they are the shit.

bought a set of ksports for a vw once, in hindsight it would have been a better idea to go out the the garage, find the biggest hammer there, and smash myself in the nuts with it till i passed out. never again will i trust forum reviews regarding ride quality of suspension being like "oem", especially not when the roads around the country vary drastically. forum mentality is always lower it, lower it lower it, mostly coming from people 16-21 that dont feel shame when their passengers cringe at their "oem" ride quality |
