would new brake pads significantly boost braking?
ive been driving a while with the frs and imo i feel like the brakes need more power behind them. when exiting an off ramp and trying to drop from 75mph, the brakes feel mushy as heck. same when im driving in the mountains and slowing for a tight turn.
my budget is kinda spent so i have to start saving up for the next thing and was wondering how much difference a nicer set of pads would have. i know a bigger brake kit would work much better but its much too expensive for me. |

They sure will. Try an entry level race pad, but be careful when you're in freezing temps. They'll take a stop to warm up. Just one.

Agree with Mike you might want to change fluid also to some Motul or AP Racing. There are lots of good pads available, Ferodo DS2500, Project Mu, and even the StopTech pads are supposed to be pretty good.

Yes, pads will be your most significant upgrade in terms of feel. I would recommend Ferodo DS2500 front and rear. They are great for daily driving, weekend canyon bombing, autoX, and even track duty in some situations. They are an excellent value for their performance.

Ferodo 2500s are a great street pad that can take some real abuse.

Please flush out the oem fluid and replace with a high boiling point fluid like RBF600 or 660 if you step up to an agressive pad.... you can easily boil the fluid before DS2500's come close to pad fade... been there.. done that..... IMO Fluid should be the FIRST thing you upgrade with the brakes, then pads and lines.

He doesn't need rotors; yet. This kit includes pads, lines, and good fluid...all the necessities without spending money on unneeded rotors. |

I'd just start with good fluid and pads. Even the lines aren't really necessary yet.

Edit: After doing some internet research it seems these brakes have a tendency to squeal a lot.

You don't want dust or noise? Go with a ceramic "comfort" pad. Lower coefficient of friction, less performance. |

The Carbotech AX6 is designed for AutoX, where you want the increased bite and performance, but don't necessarily need something that's capable of a spring race. |

IIRC, they carry the price tag for their comfort too :-P
Good pads as well. I went through numerous street compounds on my WRX. Ferodo DS2500, Porterfield R4S, Stoptech Street, Carbotech AX6 and 8. |
