Clanking Metal on the Engine Bay! Help :(

Is this normal? this is the 1st time hearing this after driving about 15 miles. I didn't turn on the A/C or heater, no nothing.

I also hearing it before I turn off the engine. engine is on idle

It sounds like the metal shielding around the exhaust contracting as it cools. Normal.

Yes, normal. It's the metal contracting as it cools. I've actually never heard a car NOT do this.

oh forgot to mention. I was hearing the metal clanking before i turn off my engine. was it still normal for some reason?

Metal pieces, usually part of exhaust, usually the heat shields, are not built to expand at as close of rates as the internal engine components. When a part gets warm it will expand and push on the bolts but since its screwed tight and baked on it will not peacefully slide but wait until push is greater then hold and readjust itself, same goes for cooling back down. Many other places on the car where this will occur right down to the body but since engine has much higher temperature extremes most will occur around the bay and tunnel. You can start to worry when the pops resonate at specific engine frequencies then its a case of a loose panel or crack in it.
