It sounds like the metal shielding around the exhaust contracting as it cools. Normal.

Totally normal.

Yes, normal. It's the metal contracting as it cools. I've actually never heard a car NOT do this.

OP: have you ever driven a car before?

Metal which gets hot and then cold makes strange sounds.

Metal pieces, usually part of exhaust, usually the heat shields, are not built to expand at as close of rates as the internal engine components. When a part gets warm it will expand and push on the bolts but since its screwed tight and baked on it will not peacefully slide but wait until push is greater then hold and readjust itself, same goes for cooling back down. Many other places on the car where this will occur right down to the body but since engine has much higher temperature extremes most will occur around the bay and tunnel. You can start to worry when the pops resonate at specific engine frequencies then its a case of a loose panel or crack in it.

it means your engine is about to explode....only kidding.

I love how clean all of our engines look right now.
