BRZ HID Bulb Swap

Has anyone done a bulb swap on their BRZ ? Couldn't find any info in DIY section

UPDATE: Figured it out for anyone thinking of changing bulbs. There are two small retention clips on either side of the bulb. Just push these forward and up toward the bulb and this will allow you to pull the bulb plug assembly outward towards the engine bay. Remove bulb and replace with desired bulb. Reverse steps to reinsert. Done

There's a bit of a learning curve when re-attaching the retention clips. Took me 20 minutes to figure it out, second one took me a minute or so once I got my head around it. Take your time to examine the clips before removal and re-attaching, refer to other HID if you need too. Also pay attention to bulb installation as there are two small notches on the bulb plug, one is rectangular and the other is half moon shaped. Make sure that the rectangular opening is too the top of the bulb plug as it fits over a metal or plastic tab when reinserting plug

Check the owners manual on replacing bulbs? HIDs are standard, what's there to replace them with?

Done that, manual refers HID bulb replacement to be done by Subaru dealer. At least from what I could see

I'm swapping out the stock bulbs for some 4DS Philips 6000K

Nope sorry, I knew that and I have the bulbs in hand. My question was, has anyone done a bulb swap yet as I was curious about the clamp mechanism within the HID assembly and how easy it was to remove and replace bulb

Thanks

Factory light output has been absolutely fantastic for me so I have had no need to change it.

The bulbs SHOULD be a direct fit. My old Rx8 had stock HID and the bulbs were a direct fit. As long as it's the same size you won't have a problem. The reason it says dealer is because the risk of electrocution.

Yeah I realize that, my question was more inline with the clamp mechanism that holds the bulb in place. I didn't wanna toy with it too much until I had an idea how the bulb plug is removed.

Yeah I found the output very good also, however I also swapped out foglamp bulbs for CREE SMD w/6000k temp and wanted to match it up nicely with my HIDS

Does anyone know the temp of the OEM HID bulbs. Most OEM are 4300K (provides maximum output) but these look a little whiter - maybe 4800K?
