I'm usually pretty honest when someone asks me about it. The good and bad. I have a lot of friends coming from higher horsepower vehicles so the conversation usually defaults to the low 200hp number.

Very shortly, I'll just say "I don't remember what stock power feels like, I've been driving sideways at 300whp lately"

Most people ask "are these seats stock???"

Actions speak louder. For every one person you talk to about the car, 1,000 people see it.

So trash it up:
Buzzy coffee-can exhaust
Cheap autozone stickers that say "turbo", "S", "sex machine", "My other car is a broom", etc...
A cheap underbody kit that is pop-riveted on.
Whitewall tires
A huge homemade spoiler
One of those chrome or carbon fiber fuel door covers
Day-glo windshield wipers
Linked chain license plate surround
Any kind of air freshener
Interior should have sheepskin steering wheel cover, dice hanging from the mirror, back support inserts and KFC wrappers strewn all over.
Any kind of music that makes the car vibrate with bass notes
Any kind of police badge, sticker, patrolmens' benevolent association card placed under the front windshield.

These things are guaranteed to turn-off potential FR-Z buyers.

kat williams said it best, "If you have 14 haters by summer you need to find another way to get 2 more before the year is out"

As I predicted a lot of people would jump on the bandwagon for this car (a long with most cars) and then realize it wasn't practical. As I stated before that they would complain about how low the car was and getting in and out. I have seen 4 already pop up for sale with less than 2K miles because people with previous injuries (back) are starting to hurt. I will be looking at picking up a used version of these for the track. In the next 2 years. Unless something else comes up.

That's a bad move. If you want Toyota to continue to making compelling cars, you want them to sell as many as possible. Past sales are the biggest factor in considering future products.

Also, if you want exclusivity, try spending 20-30k more. Nothing under 30k should be exclusive. It's not meant to be.

It's too mainstream now?....

Damn hipsters

It's a car that's borderline affordable. What did you expect? Deal with it.

I find its too tiring to try to change someone's opinion on the FRS/BRZ. I bought it, I enjoy it, and I dont much care what others think. Its not my job to change people's opinions of these cars.

If you like it, cool - thanks for the kind words. If you dont like it, cool, go look at something else. I find that locally its having a polarizing effect. Lots of guys love it and cant get enough of my car, and other guys just feel the need to lay on the hate.

These cars will be everywhere like your average 350z or g35/37. You guys shouldn't care what others think of your car anyway. YOU spent the 25+ for the car, not them.

I think the general public is so terrified of rwd that you're not likely to see these replacing Civics anytime soon.

My wife, who has ridden shotgun with me for ~20 years at this point - always in a RWD car - was worried about rwd. We used to have to leave her Civic home when it was snowing because even with snow tired that thing was terrible in the snow. I would drop her off to work in my RWD 240.

This is the first RWD car I've owned in 10 years without a roll bar in it. Maybe if I put one in, she'll feel more comfortable.
