Going full catless worth it? boosted
hey all, I currently have a Borla catless UEL, Stock front pipe and Borla catback exhaust. I also am running the edelbrock supercharger.
Do you guys think its worth replacing my stock front pipe for a Catless pipe? |

If you do, get a resonated front pipe like the JDL or HKS. Otherwise, stock front pipe will help with the noise regulation.
IMO, it's not worth it.

Not really. You'll be getting 10-20WHP more at peak, and your car will sound like junk. You'll also stink pretty bad

A local business is making dual resonated overpipe/front pipe combos for a cheap price. this is why I am asking.

I had ace 250 header and I ran hks double res fp and then stock fp with cat punched out. Neither was loud, obnoxious, or sounded bad. Catback makes a big difference I ran csg mxp touring86

From my experience yes, bin them both, decat oem header, maybe get a 2.5" overpipe (they are what? $50) then fit 2.5" dual resonated frontpipe, stock cat back, then tune.
The end. Or, spend lots of money on headers and exhausts for similar results. Shop smart

Not worth it. Now a better EL header that's worth it. JDL, or ace or HKS are the only EL headers I would use.

I believe the stock cat can only reasonably handle around 8psi of boost before meltdown or being crushed by the force behind it. I've heard many story's about it and it happened to me even. I believe this is why carb compliant kits are limited to 8psi because in places like California you cannot modify your cat. It's required to be stock for carb compliance.
I do recommend a high flow cat if you plan on running more than 8psi because the performance gain isn't worth destroying our planet. No cat is probably not the best idea because I've run no car and people have told me that it smells when they drive behind me on the freeway and you always got to wonder if you get pulled over how bad is it going to be. |
