Over Pipe / Header Recommendation
Hello there,
So I'm currently running an Invidia Q300 with the HKS Dual Resonated Front Pipe. I'm looking to keep a mature yet deep, in other words, relatively quiet sound on my exhaust, combined with being emissions compliant. What would be a good Header+Overpipe addition. Currently running a stage 1 tune from OFT. Naturally after deciding on the topic above, will move onto stage 2. |

Do you want subie rumble then get uel, I have the JDL version. If not get el and people love the ACE350 but it’s not cheap. You don’t need an overpipe, as stock will work, but no harm.

Pretty new to the platform but only heard good stuff about the expensive ACE and the less expensive JDL. Both can be combined with a tune from Delicious Tuning as well. I would also consider the Tomei UEL headers for the rumble. Hope that helps.

So I took a look into the Ace.... FCK that...lol. Im already pretty broke from buying a bunch of stuff for the car. I think I'm going JDL, FT86Speed also makes headers but I'm unsure about quality and gains, I know they are hand-made which could mean better quality, but also prone to imperfections, I guess. Thank for the suggestions!

Interesting.... Hopefully someone with the 86Speed Headers will look at this thread and share some long-term results. They are reasonable priced , I must admit that, I just like to really research any part that I'm about to install first.

I've had my coated catted ft86 speedfactory header for close to a year, sounds great with a knock off ARK exhaust. Still looks new. Also no check engine light issues if you don't immediately install a tune, though it's highly recommended to get rid of torque dip. No issues and power is there with an OFT tune.

The factory headers on this car flow well already(especially 17+). If you are looking for sound then any header you feels sounds good is your choice. If you are looking for performance then you are going to have to pay. If you are going to do it cheep then just gut the cat on your factory header. it will perform as good as most cheep cat less headers. |

Personally, I would say just save up for a while and go ACE. I was a nonbeliever for a while till I got my CS400 and the only other headers I felt compare to it were the Cosworth I had.

Gruppe-S UEL if you want the UEL sound. It's has a good reputation on the forums for the price (see the vendor thread in the classifieds. Overpipe and thermal coating options available). I'm pretty happy with mine, no install issues and it came with all hardware and gaskets required. I added the thermal coating and oil pan shield to the package as well, great value overall. Of course JDL is also an option, they do great work.

Made a surprising amount of power on the oem header with just cat removed and replaced with a straight through collector. The big benefit is you can retain the oem o2 ports and heat shields. Heat shields on this car are pretty awesome to have.
However this doesn’t improve the torque dip while many aftermarket headers really help improve that.
