What's it called when car stops past redline?

Really hate asking stupid questions... I'm trying to do something but I don't know what its called.

I've seen a couple videos of where the car goes past 7K rpms and it just stays there and the engine just makes a repeating revving sound.

In my car, if I accidentally go past 7K the engine literally just stops accelerating as if I took my foot off the gas pedal. Obviously I know this is a safety feature, but I would prefer if its possible to change it to the former.

What is this called and can it be done?

It s not called rev limiter what you mean. Or not completely

From factory you have a hard cut limiter, fuel is cutted and resumed after rpm lower a lot
What you mean is called soft cut rev limiter and you can do it by tuning it

Do not defeat your rev limiter. You stand the very strong and real risk of blowing your engine. Because cars on YouTube do it does not make it a good idea.

Most tuners and oft ots tunes too implement a soft cut, mostly at 7600.. They all like to live dangerously?

He is using OFT. I think he can, or already soft cuts to 7800 RPM.

edit: ok 7600. Something like that.
