One Side Lower = Normal?

Just a quick question. I got some lowering springs installed that have been on the car for about 1 month now.

One thing I noticed is that the Rear Driver side sits 2mm lower than the Rear Passenger Side.

Is that normal? (All my tires are inflated to the same PSI all around)

make sure the spring is sitting correctly on the spring perch. there's an indentation on the perch where the end of the coil should be. (at least for the front, I don't remember on the rear)

There is on the rear as well. This seems to be a relatively common issue when spring are installed.

How did you measure such a tiny amount?

There is zero probability that ride height for all four springs will be the same within 2 mm.

Factory fresh stock springs aren't usually within 5 mm.

You will realize that as soon as you get into the car the left side springs will get "shorter"?

Drive the other 3 corners up onto 2mm platforms and it'll even out... roughly.

Unless you KNOW you're on a surface that is both perfectly level and flat, it's entirely likely that your measurements aren't all that accurate. In my garage, which sure feels like a flat smooth surface, the platforms are at ~-3mm, -26mm, -29mm... and that's just centerline differences.

Check the spring mounting, but I'd bet that it's the surface as much as it is anything else.

Also... after balancing, I definitely do not have exactly the same ride height all around... but that's to be expected. So it's not a bad thing inherently, no matter how you look at it.

Thanks for the advice and comments.

I've also contacted a shop I go to and they told me it's normal on springs to have a difference between 2-3mm.

I'll have them check it out also just for reassurance when I visit them for some things next week.

I'll also have a look at it myself today.

Thanks again everyone!

It is possible that weight on the inside could be leaning to one corner. In my Integra, if anyone sat on the car or put anything more than 50lb in the car, you could see the car lower on whatever corner is closest. I had soft springrates at the time, but still something to consider if you have some luggage in there.

Normal. And normal that the driver's side is the lower side.
