Hey guys, I got a question, how bulletproof are our engines when N/A?

How much power can these engines handle and last the life of the car?

From the research that I've done, you just don't want to over rev the stock engine all that much without building the top end and replacing the rocker arms. Also want to work on potential oil pressure problems at high revs.

Do some research and figure out the weak points and you'll be in good shape.

By over rev do you mean the stock 7.3k rpm is too much?

Stock redline is fine, bounce off the rev limiter all you want.

Oil temperature and pressure only becomes an issue during sustained high rpm driving, usually only occurs on track days or if you're driving around >6k rpm for awhile for whatever reason (backroad, wasting gas on the freeway, driving "spiritedly" etc.)

If you don't plan on tracking or running the engine over 5k rpm for 10+ minutes frequently you don't have to do anything about this 'problem'. Only a few have had serious problems and the majority are experienced track day people.

The easiest solution most go with is an aftermarket oil cooler. But depending on what you're doing it may not be necessary at all.

A stock motor, with proper maintenance...

Will last a long time even with tons of abuse.

Adding power, well the more power you add the less reliable it's going to be. I'm of the opinion that if you have to ask this question, you probably are not ready for the headaches that come with modifying a car and the potential catastrophe to follow.

While California is a gun friendly state, it's not something we can splurge on right now. However, there are limitations to how much a factory block can take. For example, the engine lasts for a long time with proper care, a very good tune, if foreign objects don't penetrate the walls (internally or externally), and if you don't stay committed on the throttle for long periods of time.

With too much power on a stock motor it will shoot rounds out of the block for you.

With an alloy block even the rimfire would be a worry
