Resonator Install

Exhaust shops locally want 120-150 to install a resonator into my cat back. I'm wondering, should I bite the bullet and have it done. Or cut it myself, use ultra copper and some sleeve clamps?

Do you already have the resonator in hand, or are they supplying it? Because I paid $45 to have a reputable nearby shop weld in a vibrant resonator on my 3" stainless system on my car.
So if that's just for the weld I would get some quotes.

I have the resonator in hand, called 6 different shops. All quoted me between 120-150 just for the cut/weld.

Damn, that is pricey. Looks like you don't have much of a choice though.

You could remove your exhaust system, mark the area where you want to have it cut and welded, then take it to a local welding shop, they should be cheaper than most chop shops.

I had a resonator installed into the piping of my catback for $50. Which resonator did you buy, and is it a tight fit to get it in there? Do they have to move flanges or something? I can't understand why it would be so expensive otherwise.

No moving flanges, just a straight cut and weld. It's a vibrant ultra quiet.

You could see if there is a mechanic or welding school nearby. That price doesn't make any sense to me.
Even posting up a craigslist add looking for someone to weld it ought to be cheaper.

Well, found a shop FINALLY that quoted me 60 bucks. Hoping the estimated high and it'll be less. There is zero clearance or fit issues for the resonator.
