Light flywheel?
Hey guys, I'm new to this forum and the car as well as manual so the whole nine yards. As I'm driving around town just cruising, I feel like I'm shifting too slowly as the rpms blip up every shift. This forces me to quickshift which I don't mind but just curious to know if it's just the cars flywheel or me just being silly.

I've found that my car shifts smoothly around 5000 rpms and is a completely different animal above that

I'm currently trying to keep it below 4k, which is super hard by the way because excitement, since it's the break in period.

I experience the opposite. 1st to 2nd I have to wait a while for the RPM to drop before letting out the clutch to have a smooth shift. same with 2nd to 3rd, though less time than from 1st to 2nd. 3rd to 4th and above is perfect. you might just need to shift faster but considering you're new to manual, you'll get the hang of it eventually. and if you have AC on, the RPM's do drop faster so that might also be why. with AC on, my RPM's always drop when shifting into 5th and above unless I actually focus on shifting fast. I just ease the clutch in to have a smooth shift but it's not a major jump anyways, probably around 300-500 RPM.
I would also recommend you adjust your clutch pedal since the stock position at the very beginning of the pedal sucks. I adjusted mine to be closer to 3/4 of the pedal travel (closer to the floor). it makes it easier to drive, especially if you're new to manual.

I have been noticing that I'm riding the clutch a little too much. I read elsewhere that removing the helper spring would help with clutch feel. I tried to remove it but it proved tougher than I thought. Sent from my Nexus 9 using Tapatalk |
