Mechanical sound - rear axle or rear brake disc?

After working on the rear passenger-side wheel to replace the wheel studs started hearing vibration / noises like this: [ame="http://youtu.be/DTufUXuZwnk"]http://youtu.be/DTufUXuZwnk[/ame]

I have a bad feeling that I might have applied to much pressure to the axle while trying to remove the hub with the studs, damaging the axle. However, it might also be smth wrong with installing the old brake disc back on, especially since the noise seems to fade when I apply the brakes (can be also heard in the video).

Is there some science about how to balance the brake disc, or have I indeed wrecked the rear axle?

I think you might be onto something regarding the rotor but it's a tough call. Good recording.

Maybe try putting it back up on stands and rotate the wheel by hand while it's in neutral?

Then you might consider taking it back apart to look for something lose. I'd pay special attention to the emergency brake.

Is the axle nut tight .. ??

The lug nut is seems tight (very), tightened with an air impact, although I don't have the right torque wrench.

Will try to take the disc off and back on, and check the E-brake...

For those wondering, it turned out to be completely unrelated to the whole rear axle / axle nut issue. I just haven't tightened the lug nuts well enough on the opposite wheel :-P

Happened to me once on my very first car a 1980 Dodge Ram 50. Lost 2 out of 6 nuts and nearly lost the wheel.

Double check all your lug nuts folks, every nut, every time.

Gald you found it in time.
