Mechanical Sound Coming from rear

Hi guys,

First post here.

I bought a used 2012 auto 86 a couple of weeks back. I'm starting to notice every time I drive off, there's this sound coming from the rear. It sounds kinda mechanical, like some sort of electric motor/servo is engaged at the rear axle, and it ends with a subtle 'clank'. If anybody has ever tried one of those cars with electronic parking brakes, it sounds something like that when you turn it on.

I also notice it only happen once after I turn on the engine and drive off, and exactly at 17 km/h, either at 1st or 2nd gear. Doesn't happen again until the next time I turn on the engine.

Let me know if anybody else faces the same situation. Sorry for the horrible English, not my native tongue.

Cheers.

Welcome to the forum! Sorry, I'm not familiar with your issue, but your English is better than many native speakers here.

Great forum name. Your English is excellent. Are you able to record the sound?

Welcome!

Thanks.

I'm starting to think it has something to do with the lsd.

here's a video I took just now, best listen with earphones since the volume is a bit faint.

I also notice that this happens only after cold start. doesn't happen when the car is warmed up, even if I turned the engine on and off.

cheers.
