Aftermarket Intake HP Test
Hey guys,
Here are two great articles to see how much power you're actually making with your aftermarket intake. Not that surprised that a tune is required to see maximum gains. Hope you guys find this useful! http://dsportmag.com/the-tech/scion-...programed-ecu/ http://dsportmag.com/the-tech/scion-...esting-ecutek/ |

Yep, just a drop in filter will be the wisest choice.

i own a K&N like everyone else on here i assume, but a little suggestion for you guys. try the Blitz Drop In filter, that filter is underrated and to me i feel has better high end and throttle response. i currently have the blitz over the K&N in my stock box.

This article is one that comes up every so often, and was published I believe about 3 years ago, before people really knew a lot about these ECUs.
The main issue with their testing: Ignition Advance Multiplier is not at 1, so every single intake is limited in horsepower. Resetting the ECU before every single install makes sense (and is what we did when we tested intakes the same way), except that if you don't force the IAM to 1.0 the results you see are gimped. Every single intake and drop in filter makes about the same power because the ignition timing is still lowered. So it's not the most accurate source of intake information out there, by far. The other thing I don't like is how they don't show the AFRs for drop in filters, but they do for everything else. This makes the assumption that there is no change (which we saw big changes in AFR in our testing with just DIFs), so why aren't they showing this information? So while they might look like good 3rd party tests, it's important to pay attention to the details, especially when the things that are overlooked are the MOST important. Chase Engineering |

If you change more than just a Filter, only a remap can bring out the full Potential of the System.
