oil, water temp and lap time on head unit?

I`ve been researching on audio section and found out that idatalink maestro will display obdii info on an aftermarket head unit. I was a bit concerned about doing something like a dashcommand + bluetooth obdii connector since it seems the connection can be a bit sketchy at times and I dont want to manually turn it on and off every time (or leave it on because i dont want to drain my shorai battery), hence the choice to do idatalink maestro. refresh rate also seemed not too good...

however the idatalink maestro does not have a lap timer..

i guess my question is, is there an app that does both the lap times AND vital info from obdii like oil temp, pressure, and water temp? I do not want to get external gauges. I prefer a solution on a head unit.

The Aim SoloDL will do this. You can set up a custom screen and show lap time, predictive lap time and any pid that the SoloDL can read. The custom screen allows 4 data fields. Here's a few videos with data collected from the SoloDL. Obviously it's more expensive than an app but it does do some pretty useful stuff.

No, he's looking for real time data feed while driving on the track like you get from a traditional mechanical gauge. Not datalogging info he can overlay on a video when he gets home.

I like the idea of the idatalink, but I guess there aren't enough reviews or examples to show how effective/fast it is. Plus, it seems limited on radio support.

Have you looked at the P3Cars gauge you can use in the left air vent? That hooks up to OBDII and you can display things like oil temp, coolant temp, etc. I'd like to do that eventually, but for now I just stick a phone on the windsheild and run Torque to watch temps and use my old cell phone for a dedicated lap timer.

The SoloDL will show real time data from any of the Pid's it can read while you are driving in circles on the track. Up to 4 different things can be shown on each of the custom screens. Any Pid, lap, predictive lap, best lap. 4 custom screens with 1-4 different things showing on them.

I really like the SoloDL. Very happy with it. I can also upgrade and add the SmartyCam to it. That's on my list.

Plus CSG is a dealer so you know you'll get the support if you need it.
