Any headunits the same dimesions as stock?

Looking to get a double din with wider sides.

Just IMO, aftermarket double-din heatunits with adapters to make them fit in the BRZ/FRS looks out of place with the plastic on the sides. I noticed an international member here got a headunit that fits our car perfectly. Anyone know of some good models? I don't need navigation but I do want a DVD receiver and keep the stock usb ports.

I had a chat with a "technical advisor" at Crutchfield and his response was no, they don't carry anything that doesn't require a fitment kit in a Toyota. He was less than convincing though since he consistently used "most" and "nearly all". Never could get him to say "all" or "none". I hadn't had time to go back and look for the model # you mention above but if you find, it might be worth having a chat with the number and see if there is an equivalent.

Search ebay for 200mm wide double DIN and all you will find will be some cheap stuff but I think I will try one and let everyone know about it

Right, but those aren't sold in the US and AM/FM differs between companies so you can't always import them.

I'm not planning on replacing mine right now, so I'm hoping by the time I do someone comes up with a replacement dash trim that has a standard DIN cutout in it.

You can but you'll need a kit to cover the gaps on the side that you'll have.

This is for the frs, not sure if the brz is using the same wide head unit size

Ok, so the frs/brz hole is designed to fit a 200mm wide unit, vs 180mm wide for standard double din.

I presume the frs/brz hole is taller than the 100mm standard double din height too.

Does anyone have the exact measurements of the stock unit?

Not sure what your reason for the unit "having to be the same is" but you can easily achieve the flush/stock look by simply buying a kit that will fill the holes created by the sizing difference between the stock unit and the standard DIN size headunit sold by most manufacturers.

I think the OP's point is to avoid those kits. They look tacky. It would be nice to have a head unit actually be flush instead of having a "flush look".

Exactly. If the filler matched the dash pattern it might be OK, but since it doesn't its an obvious filler and you can tell. I'd notice it every time I got in the car.

I agree. If there was a way to get a "filler" that had the same exact texture and pattern as the surrounding dash, that would be my first choice since the standard double-dins are widely available

My FR-S came with the Bespoke Head Unit. The Bespoke I-Phone app is currently crap but the headunit isn't that bad. I find the response with Pandora is very responsive and it scrolls my I-pod very quickly. The touchscreen works great with the phone functions as well. I will be changing it out at some point but I'm not in that big of a hurry.
