disable the trunk release cancel button
Does anyone know of a way to disable the trunk release cancel button? My backup camera was installed where the keylock was and I am worried something in my trunk might hit the button on accident.

yep, unplug. super easy, 5 minute job.
edit: any reason why you didn't put it on the other side? that's where i did mine. took some drilling, but there's already a little indentation showing where the camera should go. |

unplugging it does not work. As I just had to crawl through my backseats to pop the trunk. I really didn't want to make a hole in the car.

I popped the switch out and unplugged it. Did not work. Is there another way to unplug it?

I can think of two solutions:
1) move the backup camera 2) the trunk release control button is a toggle switch, I believe. That leads me to suspect that if you could find a way to provide constant power to the circuit in the absence of the toggle (i.e. replace the toggle connection with a constant power connection), it will work. There are wiring diagrams for the twins located somewhere in these forums - I am no electrician so I won't presume to actually be able to give you proper electrical advice. If this is indeed a reasonable suggestion, there are plenty of power wires around the trunk area from which you can splice into. Of course, I would be wary of 5V vs 12V supplies...not sure if that is even an issue in this case. |

Tape a bottle lid over it so it can't get hit. This leaves the function should you want it don the road.
