So to be clear is the only solution anyone had was to grind it down?

Same here second and fourth. I put my stock shifter back till I find a solution. Did u see JDM TRD shifter? It looks like stock shifter except shorter. I need to see if anyone have JDM SS with driveshaft

Hmm no I haven't. I'll look into it. I really like my short shifter that's why after I removed my trd I thought kartboy was the answer.

It's going to kill me to remove it.

I've already verified install multiple times and it's correct.

I see a black line by the linkage where the dust cover is catching but no other area. Need to verify one more time when I can get it in the air. Too bad it's not simple like put washers. I thought it was an answer till they disproved it. Oh well. Bye bye shifter. 😢

So I removed my Kartboy Short Shifter today and took a good look at the differences causing me to get the rattling while in 2, 4, or 6 gear. I noticed just like Anthony my Driveshaft Shop Aluminum Driveshaft it is actually hitting the arm right in the same location. This is exactly where the drive shaft connects. It seems the Kartboy drops the shifter arm just enough (About 1" or 2") below what the OEM to hit it. While installing the OEM I actually pulled UP the shift arm just to reinstall in into the linkage but was unable to exactly gauge the difference I just knew I saw and felt more clearance. I would blame this on the Kartboy Short Shifter which is really close to the oversized driveshaft but still caused me issues and I could hear it hit multiple times if I wasn't on a straight smooth road or hit any bump. I would cringe every time it happened. So I guess it is one or the other and I rather have the driveshaft. I am not about to grind the arm just to have enough clearance. So note to anyone looking at getting either a Kartboy Shortshifter and Driveshaft. You may have issues! I had to remove my TRD quickshifter which clearly hit the driveshaft and the Kartboy was a no go. Just as a possible note my vehicle is a 2013 Scion FR-S. Maybe the newer versions had a different design when it came to that shift arm or more clearance. IDK. Just want people to think twice before getting one or the other.

One more thing to add. I gauged the difference of the Kartboy and OEM. The OEM clearly held the shifter higher even though they actually look almost the same. It is right where that plastic piece goes at the knob. Too bad. I really loved having a Kartboy for the short period I did have it.

Well that throws that theory about the year of the vehicle being a problem out the window

IDK then. I didn't have any movement either up or down when the kartboy was installed. I have a rear Perrin shift bushing but that is clearly installed correct. To me it's just a matter of the arm coming just low enough to impact driveshaft spin in 2,4,6 gear. Neutral and 1,3,5 Nothing it was perfect.

I am actually going to switch to a Velox shaft due to this issue, because mine barely touches in first and reverse. It's not much but I can still feel it, and the Velox doesn't have knuckles that are larger like the DSS one. It costs a little more, but it's worth it IMO as you get what you pay for.

Definitely follow up once you get it installed to confirm clearance. I saw someone ask this on Velox's instagram but they didn't have an answer as it was untested.

You do know that they don't really make those shafts right.
They may have redesigned the knuckle
