Driveshaft Shop CF + Kartboy SS Conflict.
I finally received my driveshaft last night and just finished installing it a little while ago. There's a huge problem though. The driveshaft is hitting the shifter linkage when the car is in neutral, and even more so in 2nd, 4th, and 6th. It clears it in 1st, 3rd, and 5th, but barely. The only idea I can come up with is to grind the shifter linkage down a bit where it's hitting, but I feel like there has to be a smarter way of solving this problem.
I tried searching to see if someone else has this shifter and driveshaft, but I haven't had any luck so far. So I don't even know if this combination would always do this, or if it's just my particular setup. Interesting. It might be worth it to see if the problem is there with the oem shifter if you still have it. I don't know if I'd want those parts all that close as the transmission can move a fair amount even at factory power. Please keep us updated on your findings.

Video is now in the OP. BEHOLD THE BULLSHIT!!

I don't think the shifter should have up and down movement...
|
Seems normal to me. I was looking at that, I don't know what would keep it from having that vertical play in it.
EDIT: Also, when I pull up on it, I move the reverse lockout up too, so it doesn't move nearly as much as it appears to. |
Is it possible that the rear shifter bushing is upside down? That might make the linkage sit lower. Just a guess.

Do you have a Kartboy rear shifter stay bushing, or something similar, installed? Is it perhaps installed upside down?
edit; yeah, what Adrian said. |
I know the kartboy kit comes with a bushing just like the Perrin bushing I have. The bolts should be at the bottom, with the flat side down.

Wow, I'll be watching this one closely as I have a KB SS and a driveshaft is on my list.
|
I installed that thing quite a while back. Pretty sure I made sure not to install it upside down. It seems like installing it upside was either impossible or would've made it really awkward. I still have the exhaust and driveshaft installed, but I'll go out there and see if I can see the bushing.

Yep, it's flat side down. I can read the Perrin logo.
|
Then I'm out of ideas.

Sad news. Here's a picture of it though, just to double check that I'm not retarded.
