In this case, there is a long straight where 120mph becomes about 55mph so after 5 laps the front pads are smoking. Every other track I do doesn't have as much of a variance so the pads have never been an issue even with the tyres.

I like that they're suitable for daily duties, minimal dust, don't abuse rotors and good pedal feel but still manage consistent performance on the track (except this one place lol). Is there a Winmax pad (or anything else for that matter) worth trying which matches those characteristics but can take a bit more heat abuse? Can drop the daily duties but want to keep the other stuff as swapping pads before a track day isn't a big issue. Though always thought switching compounds on the same rotors was a no no?

Current BBK uses FRP3077 front and FRP219 rear though I'd prefer not to replace the rears as they're only half used.

@CSG David
I will send you a PM regarding this inquiry. DS2500 is a hybrid compound and we wouldn't normally consider this a good track pad for heavy use, however you are using a FRP3077 pad shape so it's a big pad.

Small update. Winmax W7 is no longer available for order in the United States. Thank you for your understanding!

seriously hard to gauge as we don't know how long, how hard, how fast, how good, how bad, how much, how often, etc, etc...
I'm going to shoot in the dark and say 3-5 days.

That totally depends on you, but if you're getting 4 days or less out of a set of W6, you should seriously consider a BBK for cost reduction purposes.

This is when I replaced my W5's. Is that about Right or did I go too far or not far enough?

You still have a solid 3mm of pad on the two middle pads. Keep using em!

You can run pads to the backing, but you run the risk of the backing plate touching your rotors and scoring them. Also, as pads wear thinner, there's less heat sink mass, and they get hotter, and end up wearing faster.

You could always throw these in your track bag, and just keep em as backups.

Ok, I thought you were supposed to swap them out when the pad thickness equaled the thickness of the backing plate. Do I risk wearing out my brake fluid faster when they run that low?

Yes, but brake fluid is cheaper than race pads....

The risk is not "wearing out" the fluid, but rather heating it up enough that it degrades, and possibly boils.
